Fremen Economy
Question: How do you make money as the Fremen?

I understand that other factions tend to rely on energy packs and the tech that gets you money from them.

However I cant seem to figure out how to make money as the Fremen. I'm not sure if this is a current state of issue or just me missing something. The AI Fremen seem weak compared to other factions at getting towards victory.

Go deep eco and capture only spice fields early game using worms or go military and pillage.

By money you mean solari? if so in the brown tech tree fremen get a tech that give 2 solari for every neutral settlement on the map and its a relatively early tech

i usually play on a large map so its not much of a problem.

use the support character that give you knowledge on the locations of spice and capture them

sell spice?

Still not enough compared to the other factions. Selling as much spice as I can, focusing on income buildings and special site, keeping an eye on upkeep and still broke all the time. Pretty sure its just broken right now, but wanted to see if I was missing a obvious strat

Have you played since the update? Just asking, I only started after the update and found the Fremen to be amazingly weak and poor.

Sevrojin Sep 29, 2022 @ 8:36pm
after a quick look early game your best bet is freedom of religion and spice market techs

Post update I found that you really have to pay attention to village traits. Grabbing a village that has 'bonus solari per plascrete' or just flat rate solari helps. Grabbing a spot you can put a processing plant that also has a bonus to resource production helps.

Don't forget the seitch trading stuff as well, in the purple tree. Seitch alliances (and the subsequent upgrades you can build in allied seitches) are significant.

And finally, stay small. You don't need a massive contiguous territory as Fremen. Hidden Thumpers operation and Sand Cloak operation are both great for getting places quickly.

You just won't be able to match solarii income with someone like Corino, though. If you're getting into a CHOAM bidding war and Shaddam IV is on Arrakis, encourage him to dump all his shares back on the market with some ultra-violence. Bonus points if you do it under the cover of a very big storm.

(Played post-update) : Also consider going for the "Local outposts" (sorry I translate from french and trying to recollect the name of it) in the green techtree. This gives you a 50% effectiveness on your "specialized territory", that is those where you only construct one building.

I found it helps to optimize solari upkeep cost because you build significantly less buildings. Pair it with sensible use of the village traits and.. yeah, it may not be much or even already a tech you consider in your standard strategy, but for me it worked well : had an easy win in Hard difficulty against at least two AI that were going for the CHOAM shares economic victory.
