The interface would NEVER work on mobile, there's nothing mobile about it.
Dune: Spice Wars is a 4X/RTS hybrid, let's hold off on "Ending all misunderstandings" until the game has released and people have a good understanding of how it plays based on actual experience, not a very small amount of pre-curated, hands-off video content.

Which is not a bad game. I personally love it. I just can't get my friends hot for it for multiplayer games. It's still very niche gameplay. The AI also like so many RTS is not the greatest and soooo easy to exploit.
I'm sure this game will be fun but it is not the good old and trusted dune, simply as that, it has pieces of 4x and pieces of RTS, just won't excel at either, which is fine ...
You want to know what to expect, try northguard I guess, it's really not a bad game, just ... different ... but we all know different is bad right :D
It is definitely not based on and is about as far from Northgard as it gets. Northgard is an RTS with 4X elements, D:SW is a 4X with RTS elements, and they have almost no overlap in gameplay whatsoever.
This will be apparent when more gameplay comes out (or when we release later this month), but don't make assumptions based on our having developed both.

Screenshot 6, Leto portrait, simplified cartoonish artstyle, look very mobile like, if you ever browsed games on Google Play, you will notice that.
I don't care if it mobile game or not, it looks like mobile game anyway and I'm not only one who noticed that, there is a number of other posts which telling the same.
We are not a hive mind to share one thought, different people saying that game looks like mobile.
Anyway, my reason for making this post was to warn players to not make mistake and think that this game is remake of old Westwood Dune games like many old RTS fans thought, and I hope I managed to do that.
wow yeah, why is this guy going on and on about a game that he clearly does not like and is not going buy before the game is even out? i think it looks like a great idea, and the game devs have a great track record, but will wait until i actually play it in a couple weeks before commenting...
This guy clearly thinks his 1300 hours in one loosely considered RTS game, makes him an expert in the entire genre and who's opinion should matter enough for others to take into consideration when looking at this game. Now had the game been out for a week or so and he put some hours into it then maybe I'd take his rants a little more seriously but as they stand now, he's just some nostalgia fanboy pining for the old days and not happy that someone took his precious IP and made it into something that modern gamer's might enjoy.
What are you talking about? You're bringing up a portrait art style as part of the user interface? Do you realise how ignorant that sounds?
And its rater pointless to make a thread like this one here, someone that didnt even read the store page, wont read this thread either.
Dont get me wrong, i loved the Westwood Games as much as the next guy, but this here wants to be something different and thats a good thing.
So I would be all for a remake of it, yet I don't mind if it's different, especially when I ALSO loved Cryo's Dune, which was a very dumbed down RTS/adventure game hybrid. But it was GOOD.
Edit: To the devs, I know your store pg says this is "A real-time strategy game with 4X elements". This may be interpreted as this being an RTS game first and foremost with some 4x aspects. As a 4x fan who grew up with RTS (including Dune 2), I'm pretty hyped but also have certain expectations to be candid about it. I'm not looking for something even remotely close to Northgard, which is predominantly RTS, but rather strategic colonization, diplomacy, trade, tech trees and of course battles/invasions (no cheesy capture resource point and fortify tactics like in a traditional RTS) typical of a 4x game. Hope you don't mind my honesty but if you intend for this to be a 4x, you may wish to consider changing your description to "A 4x game with RTS elements" instead. Just my humble opinion.
