Presumably they figured the limited release would give them enough information to make meaningful changes, without being overloaded by having the same issues reported again and again and again.
Don't forget that this was a demo of an early version of the game, not a demo of a fully developed, released game: it doesn't give an accurate representation of the final game, so could be detrimental rather than positive.
