Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow

why is the game compared to World in Conflict and not Wargame?
Never played WOrld in Conflict but it looked really similar to war game. Wargame was cool but never catched me because it was so slow and a bit too complex to play now and then.
Just curious what was the difference and how does Broken Arrow fit in those comparisons?

To me, it's mostly visually similar in the UI. But there are also hints of WiC in gameplay elements, such as the capture circles.

As the demo mission suggests, there also seems to be a rich story-driven campaign with voice-overed characters.

The general pacing and heavier focus on micro, as well as the much more aggressive gameplay is more reflective of World in Conflict, IMO. With World in Conflict, you stay mobile, your units hit hard and die fast, and it comes down to how you've positioned your troops to smack others without getting smacked in return, as well as quickly adapting to changing conditions. Where as in Wargame, everything is kinda slow, static, and grindy and the game doesn't really give you much control over your units other than move commands.

I see. The comparison to Wargame was also my impression from the Demo. Broken Arrow felt faster and I felt like I impact the combat more with micro than just moving the units.

Like I said, Wargame is good but its too slow for my taste.

I can't speak for others but I've played both wargame and WIC and this just felt more like WIC then wargame. And like many others some prefer WIC over wargame.

The only thing I would say is go play World in Conflict, you wont regret it. You can usually pick it up cheap on GoG

The micro-intensive nature makes it feel like World in Conflict, which is a pretty good place to be honestly. I loved the gameplay of World in Conflict. I hope they stay on this path.
Because it 's more like WiC than Wargame. Wargame is trash cf this...too much micro mgmt and the gameplay is too fast

I see it as a hybrid so far, haven't played WIC in years so its hard to compare right now. The certainly are trying the best of both worlds.

Because Wargame is a completely different game. Broken Arrow seems to be quite well on its way to be a spiritual successor to World in Conflict.
It's a bit more orientated on action, unlike Wargame.

It didn't really remind me of World in Conflict but it's been a long time since I played. It's funny reading the comments about Wargame being too fast, that's the opposite complaint I had about it! I found units moved unrealistically fast.
