Not really, you need to build up memory and reflexes for interface and hotkeys and use combined arms. Totally accessible game, not harder than your average RTS in my opinion.

It's not that hard at all I barely even lose any units anymore. It's pretty funny watching all the wargame babies seething in the forums though and crying about 'muh pacing' and 'muh realism'.

Just use the buildings as cover(Both for infantry and especially for vehicles) and actually use unit abilities and you'll be fine 90% of the time. Heck you can cheese most of the segments of the demo mission anyway(Such as waiting before you capture the fort and calling everything in so you can secure the surrounding buildings, drop supplies by said buildings, etc. Also when you get to the landing party segment you can bait that initial rocket barrage with a recon unit safely, as it only activates when one of the defenders first engages a unit, and always barrages the same spot).

If you can handle company of heroes, this game is a cake walk.

I would argue it IS harder then the average RTS, although i'm all for that.

Yeah, I mean for those who have experience with wargames and warfare in general, this makes the difference here. It requires specific set of knowledge and experience. For those who dont have it it is considerably harder indeed.

Yeah dude, it should be very hard If you are not familiar with wargames or semi-realistic RTT games. In this case you should wait for tutorials and get your self familiar with the stuff in arsenal.
Right now Russian tanks have more armor penetration than they do in real life. The unload mechanics need a rework. It is janky as hell. Supplies are too easily used up as well.

double tap the U key to unload troops at the vehicle without selecting a point. Supplies can be stacked when you call them in, just keep clicking.

Yes this has a pretty hard learning curve - also demo mission is done in 3 stages and without an auto save it can be frustrating to start again ( in release this would change I bloody hope)

this type of RTS combined arms & also micro managing unit's can be hard but makes it worth while to learn strength & weakness of your own units and enemies. It's satisfying to peek a LAV or Abrams around a corner wreck a few units and pop back into cover/concealment

Don't really like the level design of the demo mission. Your troops are stranded on the other side of the canal after the first stage, They might as well be dead, and if you weren't conservative with the amount of guys you called in on the first part you will be overwhelmed.

Unless you put them n a transport helicopter and carry them over

Or a lav which is amphibious and drive them over

🤷‍♂️

Yea its a bit too hard for my liking too - having to muscle memory hotkeys turns what could be a enjoyable experience into a bit of a chore really, which isnt bad but imo we already have a few 'sim' type RTS games around atm
