Demo Feedback - game is too micro intensive
Simply, the game as it currently is, is way too micro-intensive.

I want to feel like i'm commanding troops - not robots that require every little decision to be made directly by the commander (player). Helicopter sees an AA piece within range? It should auto-flare/auto-countermeasure before being shot - you could also add experience levels to determine how well pilots/squads can react to things, if you are afraid squads doing things by themselves will make the game "play itself".

Squads with smoke should auto-smoke LOS between them and things like tanks that are shooting them out in the open. There should be an "auto-load" and/or "Auto-resupply at base" button/setting that allows squads to hitch a ride at the nearest transport. You could also then have a setting that the player can control on transports if they are allowed to automatically ferry troops that request it.

Warcraft 3 showed very well that even having only two or three units with micro-intensive abilities was too much for many players (with DOTA showing that most players are happy with a single unit that they have to micro).

If you want to stick to your guns and FORCE players to do tiny actions on behalf of their troops, you need to dramatically slow down the TTK for units in the game. The current combination of 2-3 hit kills, squads getting instantly mowed down if out of cover, and the extreme micro-intensiveness of abilities, creates a very unsatisfying game experience.

I want to be watching my cool units shoot stuff, while planning the overall strategy. I DO NOT want to be frantically switching between function keys and squad control keys every half-second to ensure my robots are actually trying to save themselves from dying.

No, I LOVE what it is right now!
It's awesome and you can use some tactics like in real life.

Graviteam Tactic games like Mius Front handle most of the micro with AI, and do it pretty well IMO. But then you find people who complain: "The AI is stupid and gets all my tanks killed" and miss the nuance of having a strategic game where a lot of the critical decisions are made in the deployment phase.

That being said, i'd prefer less micro too. The way it is now I can still myself having a lot of fun making scenarios in the editor and play SP (so i can pause) or COOP.

As long as all players are playing by the same rules, additional micro by players will always be somewhat beneficial.

I hope they invest 100% into allowing the AI control most things that in real life a squad of soldiers/vehicle would handle by themselves. Watching a squad sitting in the open getting shot by a tank require *my direct order* to smoke and retreat to nearest cover/building is just really *really* frustrating.

then go play CMAO or something bro. This is an RTS after all. If you can't do some basic micro to throw up countermeasures etc you will lose. It's a lot like starcraft. I personally like it and it will make multiplayer games much more entertaining. Trust me at first I didn't like it but once I got a hang on the key commands then it became much more enjoyable. I lost 5-6 times before I won the demo game.

Bro, you realize I literally clarified in my OP that I didn't want this game to be a 400 APM starcraft click fest right? And you are correct, right now, it *IS* a lot like starcraft.

I could not have said it better, I tell these guys to go somewhere and they don't have sense to not walk right out in front of Tanks and get killed instead of going around the back of the building LoL dumest soldiers ever!

Then the game is not for you.

I found it mediocre at best, definitely not a day one buy for me and I see no reason I would play this over other similar games I already have however I could see the appeal for others who want a more arcade type game instead of simulation.

You would absolutely love Graviteam Tactics: Mius Front. It is a great game with perfect match of micro and strategy.

Yeah Mius Front is excellent, I also like steel division 1944 as it is slower paced, SD2 is great but too fast and too clicky for me. Combat Series by battlefront would be up there but pretty much unplayable due to performance, when they upgrade to Engine 5 it's supposed to increase the performance but we will see.

I think I've either played or own most all of them except regiments. there is hardcore simulation like command modern ops, combat mission, mius front, armored brigade, then moving down in to more tactical less simulation you get to the wargame/steel division games and going further down the simulation line games like blitzkrieg, end war, ruse, many more.

The game is just not for you, I like the micro focus
