Broken Arrow

how will nuclear weapons work?
the presence of nuclear weapons in the game has been confirmed, but I wonder how they will be implemented in the game, what will be their area of effect, their vector, their delay and the amount of damage, I also hope that they will have an effect on the environment (trees or buildings destroyed etc.) less ridiculous than the nuclear weapons of world in conflict

Also wondering, I hope it's mostly just a campaign map thing
a nuclear weapon, even with realistic statistics (and low yield) could be balanced by significantly increasing their price, quite possible to implement in skirmish

a strategy game comparable to wargame red dragon could not work like that, because a player must necessarily have units to hold his positions and not be crushed, overall, a nuke would be more of a strategy of last resort that can also turn against its user if poorly managed, indeed, the radiation generated would block any potential counter offensive for the player who launched it in desperate measure, moreover, the nuclear weapons used tactically are much less powerful than strategic weapons, there are even conventional weapons with a power comparable to that like the MOAB, basically, I see a nuclear weapon as a measure to block enemy forces to buy time.

ok, what is your true opinion then? only in the campaign? on my side I think we should be able to activate or deactivate it in multiplayer and skirmish

Only in campaign, they just would not scale well in multiplayer unless the maps are absolutely enormous

as I have already explained, tactical nuclear weapons are of low efficiency (from 10T to 0.5KT) and have a range of action ranging from one to three kilometers, the yield of some tactical nuclear weapons have such a low yield that it is generally medium-power bombs making radiation, I believe that you are thinking of bombs of several megatons, this will most likely not be the case

And I still think that that is far too big of an effective range even for the absolute smallest of nukes, and no, I was not thinking about warheads in the mega ton range.

it turns out that conventional bombs of a power equivalent to the smallest nuclear bombs have been implemented in wargame Red Dragon, and these are very far from covering the whole map, as I said, nuclear weapons are actually declined in a plethora of cathegories, I don't know how it can be too powerful for you when the radius of action equates to a conventional weapon, it may be the almost instinctive revulsion that players of strategy games have when using nuclear weapons

I don't know of any weapons in WRD that can affect a 1-3km radius besides an artillery barrage by a few howitzers at once. You asked for my opinion, and my opinion is that I think it's too much unless it's in the army general mode. 1-3km range can affect an entire city block, positioning infantry and support units carefully in a city only to have everything either killed or rendered useless instantly does not sound good to me, even more so than can be destroyed by artillery or bombing. At least in WRD you can shoot down a B-5 before it drops its bomb which doesn't affect an area anywhere near 1km.

nothing prevents nuclear bombs from being dropped by plane, so with a correct anti air you can prevent it, in any case there should be an option in the settings of the game to activate or deactivate the use of nuclear weapons

In my opinion it still would be way too devastating, I don't like how vulnerable infantry are in cities as it is in Wargame

MANPAD: Am I a joke to you?
RUSE had tactical nukes and it worked by using low yield warheads.
