Tortuga - A Pirate's Tale

Tortuga - A Pirate's Tale

PSA: The Game is from the same People that butchered Port Royal 4 and droped it like a hot potatoe
Well as in the Title i would say caution is adviced considering how the whole port royal 4 mess went down (buggy launch, features lack luster, recieving a FEW patches and then calling it a day after slaping a pirate dlc to it. etc.) and the uncany resemblence of some assets of this game to Port royal 4. I got this bad feeling in my wallet area of an incoming cash grab.

My reasoning: over 10 years experience as a kalypso customer, i bought port royal 4 never forget.

To be fair: i have no clue what the game is/ will be like there is a chance it will turn out good. But if it doesnt: Come back and let me know.

This is something I immediately detected when browsing the store screenshots. At least to me, it's not a good sign.
I think Port Royale 4 is a great game. But like many games, it's not for everyone.
And not that I expect it to happen, Tortuga - A Pirates Tale has a great foundation that needs more tweaking, updates and starting customization like PR4 has.

Brah that sums up ALL Kalypso Games .... The all have a great Foundation an amazing Conzept ... they are the Games you want to be Good, the Games you want to play ..... In short: They will never be "Done". You Buy them because you want them to succed .... then you notice the flaws and you are like: Oh it is not that bad it can be fixed ..... Then the patches roll in and they fix other stuff..... and then they add something irrelevant and call it a day and move to the next game. I dont know if they just cant put in that extramile that would be needed to make the game realy good or if they dont want to. But it is a quality that is present in pretty much every Kalypso game: A Niche Title, an apealing Concept, something that hits your nostalgia or scratches your itch only to be like 80% what you wanted and in the end to shallow to stick with you.... Is 80% bad? No. But after the several Games it feels like you got cashgrabed. Like they are aware of the shallownes, like it is what they do and they are fine with it. Maybe the costumers are fine with it too but to me it feels like it is devious. .... Kalypso is the umbrella that releases games akin to old IPs to games you loved .... and it leans on the reputation .... but it never fully delivers.... leaving those IPs tainted .... the concept tainted .... it is just sad. I would love Kalypso if only they would freaking once deliver a good, deep game that recieves support and does not feel like: We got your money, we dont care, here is the next game.

completely agree
although for the issues Tortuga does have, it's kinda funny I just sunk 55 hours into it and still keep coming back....something about the combat and sea environment I do like even as repetitive as it is

When PR4 was just released many in the forums were asking for a pirate game. Well, the devs have released it... and nobody bought it, lol. I wont be buying it because it has turn based combat.
