it's not just a new area that's getting added to the game, there are mechanic overhauls, new bosses, new gear items, passive skill rework, blood-type rework etc
the new area like the rest of the game will more than likely have new crafting materials as well.
To play the new content you need to start a new save.
Your old saves from version 1.0 won't be lost. You can still play them in version 1.1 without rolling back your game version but they won't include the new content.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This game has a wipe mechanic similar to Rust. In every major Rust update servers get wiped. If you want to play the new content you just need to start a new save. I know it takes longer to reach the end game compared to Rust but this is what makes V Rising fun. Otherwise you're already done with the game and new updates that change and add content to early mid and late game would go unnoticed. You wouldn't experience the new content as intended. There's no need to whine. Just start a new save. If you don't have time for that then play another time. Everything you've built is still accessible and playable. Criticizing this is just funny because this has always been the case and there is a reason for it. V Rising gives you a grind experience both for gathering resources and defeating bosses. There's a boss ladder so you know which ones to slay to keep progressing. If they change that the whole game changes. They add new weapons and features for you to try. If you've already finished an older version using these new features with that character won't give you the full experience. So please stop crying.
Only if the new content was something added after the existing end of the game would your complaint make sense. Otherwise whining about this is nonsense. Everything you've built still exists. That version is one game and this new version is a different one. You know that well. Besides you're playing a wipe-based game in singleplayer focused on building. That’s your choice and V Rising supports it. They even made changes to help you play your old saves comfortably. But what you want is like eating a banana in zero gravity and expecting it to taste like strawberries. Just be a little grateful and keep your expectations grounded. Adding two new bosses mid-game completely changes the flow. If you rush them in late game and one-shot them it won’t feel like a new update at all. Then you'll whine about how underwhelming the update is. Can’t you understand what you're reading? It's a wipe-based game. You're choosing to disable that with a player-side option then complain about not experiencing the new version. The game isn't being developed for that. New content isn’t made with that in mind. This isn’t Minecraft. The devs are already doing their best. I don’t get why you still can't be satisfied. Reaching late game only takes one or two days of playing. What are you even building that takes so long? I built massive castles and it took maybe one extra day of gameplay. Someone said devs should ask themselves “What can we do to avoid the necessity of a clean save?” Dude the new features are not just extensions to the end of the game. Your request goes against the game's progression logic and the entire feel of experiencing the new content. If an update ever comes that only affects post-endgame content sure it'll be compatible with your old saves. But you're looking at this from such a narrow perspective. Please try to understand what you're asking and why it doesn’t make sense.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the DEVS:
Introduce a feature that allows players to create a Blueprint of their castle in older saves. This blueprint can then be imported into a new save and placed on valid land, provided the required resources are available. This way players can preserve the look and layout of their favorite builds without bypassing progression or balance.
Key rules:
- Blueprints only copy structure and layout, not stored items
- Players must gather the materials again to construct the blueprint in the new world
- Blueprints are stored locally and can be shared with other players
doesn't have to be, it's up to the devs to decide not the players.
Exactly. And yet it still has a progression-based structure where major updates affect core gameplay systems across early mid and late game. This isn’t about being a live service or not. It’s about how the game is designed.
You don’t need to be a live service game to require a fresh start when foundational content gets changed. V Rising has a wipe-friendly structure by design. Just because you can play offline doesn’t mean the progression logic disappears.
Rust wipes because it’s online
V Rising wipes because it evolves. (+ it is online but I'm talking about post update wipes)
