Greetings,

Thank you for your report an we apologize for the inconvenience.

We would like to inform you that we have found a workaround for this issue by doing the following:
* Installing the latest Visual C++ Redistributable
* Changing the ClientSettings.json (HasSeenIntroCinematic = true)
In order to locate this file, please do the following:
- Locate and open the ClientSettings.json file at %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Settings\v3
- Find the "HasSeenCinematic" setting, and change the false value next to it to instead say true
- Close the file and restart the game

Additionally, you may try launching with videos turned off by the following steps:

1.) Right-click the game in your Steam library.
2.) Select Properties.. > General and then type -noVideo into the text field under "Launch Options".
3.) Launch the game as usual.

Please let us know if it works.

If you had the Game before Launch AND used Reshade, remove Reshade and maybe your Game will start.
Thank you for your report. We're looking into it!

Resolved this for my brother. He had a new PC without Visual Studio installed so to resolve go to: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#GeneratedCaptionsTabForHeroSec. This will take to Microsoft's site with the redistributions to download. Normally go for the x64 version but if that doesn't work try x86. It depends on your specs on which one to get. He downloaded x64 and rebooted his game and it solved the Hold to Skip issue. You should be able to reach the screen where you select your region and everything now. Enjoy

Oh so lucky to find a workaround. Will try it now.

Update
I only had to install the latest Visual C++ Redistributable. That was enough for me.
