cannot play private solo game
I am trying to start a private game, solo only, in V Rising, but for some reason it keeps returning errors. Using Windows 11, and verified integrity of game files in Steam.

First attempt had "No response from remote host". Seems odd that the game still requires a connection to something in order to play solo.

I manually loaded the Windows Firewall UI, noticed V Rising wasn't listed, so I manually added the program and checked both private and public network connectivity. Also looked up the error on the forum and followed the instructions to enable the Console, look up my system's IP address with ipconfig, and paste the address in the Connect command.

It appeared to connect... and then returned "Connection timed out".

I then found another 'solution' that involved deleting old save data, as it could interfere with V Rising, so I searched for the Stunlock Studios folder in AppData\LocalLow and deleted it. V Rising generated a fresh one, so I adjusted my settings the way I wanted, and tried to start the private solo game again.

This time, Windows Firewall popped up a window asking for permission to let V Rising Server use my connection. It did NOT do this with the base V Rising game, which I mentioned having to manually allow. I checked both Private and Public network access, again.

Loaded game, tried to start private, solo world yet again...

Error: Server Error

I guess I am stuck playing on friends' servers until this issue is resolved.

edit: I also tried switching between IP and SteamP2P preferred connection modes in the V Rising general options, enabled and disabled LAN Server in game options, and tried both with and without a password (it never asked me to enter one when attempting solo)

Hi there!

Thank you for reporting this to us. We apologize for the inconvenience.

May we ask if you have also tried the workaround on our guidesite?https://guides.playvrising.com/hc/en-us/articles/9874669220125-Error-Server-Error

there is no Load Game screen, since I am unable to create a new save, and I deleted the game's Appdata folder, so I have been working with a fresh one

I have not loaded the game since before today's patch, so I will try that now

once again I got the "no response from remote host" error

then I loaded the console, entered "Connect" followed by my local IP address (obtained via ipconfig) and then my password

it appeared to connect successfully, showing the "connecting" status followed by 1/5 through 5/5... and then "Error: Connection timed out"

I am still wondering why the V Rising client can't 'see' a V Rising Server that is running on the same computer, all I am doing is going to Play->Private Game, then clicking Advanced Game Settings and checking "only solo play"
