V rising not launching/Crashing/Steam initialization failed

I have been trying to launch the game for the past 1h trying all possible solutions I have found on the internet.

- Verifying file integrity
- Redownloading the game
- Redownloading steam itself
- Launching both steam and game as admin
- Setting steam to compatibility mode
- Updating my Graphics drivers

None of these have solved my issue.

The closest I get to launching the game is by launching it as admin directly from the download folder where I get the message "steam initialization failed". A launch directly from steam results in the game flashing open into instantly closing.

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I have a similar issue, for me the game launches, but when I try to actually host or join a server the game freezes while loading.

Edit - > Only way I have managed to successfully "launch" the game was by deleting the v3 folder following these steps

"if you get stuck in the age gate screen, try the following:
Delete the "v1", "v2" and "v3" folders at %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Settings"

However as soon as I am prompted to select my ideal brightness the game instantly shuts down.

My hypothesis is that I am having trouble connecting to steam through the game.

If I launch the game from the where I have it installed directly I get into the "menu" with an error describing "steam initialization failed" or something a long those lines.

Same thing is happening to me, I was on about 3 hours ago before my game updated. Now it crashes after i hit continue/play/load during initialization.

Same thing for me. I was just in my game all night. Logged out to update the game, logged back in, it allows me to lot into Vrising, but when i try to load into my game, it takes me completely out of the game. Wont let me start a new game either. Something to do with the update id wager.

Same thing here the games crashes when i try to "continue" i dont want to reinstall the game and lose all my progress :(

Game is also crashing to desktop for me when I hit continue on PC, but game still loads and functions fine on Steamdeck.

I just had Steam verify the installation from the Steam client game properties screen. It said three files failed verification, and it automatically re-downloaded them. I seem to be back in business now. Game started up no problem for the first time in weeks!
