What are soul shards used for?

Hello,
Just wondering what soul shards are used for and if there's any point to trying to collect them

From the shard bearers? You use them to build a structure at your castle that you can interact with to receive a 2-hour buff. Each one of them gives a different buff and can all be active at the same time.

Thanks, I guess I'll try a different guardian as gorecreusher is proving to be very annoying. I can deal with him until he summons the doppleganger of himself, at that point it always ends up my loss

order of difficulty (Easy to hard, for most) is: The Winged Horror > Gorecrusher the Behemoth > Adam the Firstborn
Killing one of them ofc lets you use the 2h buff for the next one and so forth.

you are me. and I admit I still can't beat him reliably. only on really really lucky 1% situation but other than that he can rekt me so bad.

and the same is true for adam. only a few have beaten him solo.

as for winged, he's way too easy for a shard bearer. I can reliably defeat him at -5 gear.

I agree that Winged is the most approachable but I think all of them are pretty approachable once you really know their moveset. Winged Horror just so happens to have the largest AoEs and the most telegraphed attacks outside of it's ice-spikes but those can be healed through.

Don't forget to wear your cloak to grant vision in the forest. The Behemoth is MUCH worse when you can't see them coming. Adam was a rush of a fight; once I got my feet under me and I knew what moves were coming he was pretty approachable as well... his final face was hard but not undoable.

I'm in a PVE server and it only lets me use the soul shards as an amulet. When I put in pedestal it does nothing how do I activate the Buff?

It no longer works that way in v1.0 , now their just pendants you wear that gradually lose durability... further more they overwrite your ultimate with their own that you may not enjoy using;

As they currently are their hardly better then normal crafted pendants unlesds you are on a PvP servers since they do grant some dmg bonus vs vampires(aka other players)
