There are keystone bosses who block off tech advancement or new weapon/armor crafting stations. Essentially you'll have 5 gates across the zones: Quincey, Maja, Octavian, Cyril, and Henry Blackbrew. Quincey locks off T2 weapons and armor, Maja locks of the T2 upgrades, Octavian locks off T3 armor, Cyril locks off T3 weapons, and Henry Blackbrew locks off T3 weapon and armor upgrades.
The cool thing about each of them is that they're only the beginning of the chain of "quests" to get what you need. Maja is a tough fight but you can gain a definitive edge over her with consumables, buffs, blood types, and good cleave weapons.
"This is a little weird; the game sorta expects you to fight bosses at your level, not only ones that are far weaker than you." Im sorry, on what are you based to say this? Maja is the only ennemy you cant fight with higher level gear. I dont think that a game that can only be played in just one single way is very fun,
Im not asking for her to be nerfed or easier, just that the study is unlocked by defeating a slightly lower level ennemy so the people that wants to face ennemies at their same level can do it if they wish, and those of us who wish to progress in different ways before facing ennemies also can do so. I dont think its that weird of a suggestion.

Leandra is also level 47 lol
I dont think you understand my point
Thanks for the advise
What are you doing dude
I mean you do you, this is just a game and this is what the Early Access period is for. I dont play competitive nor care about being particularly skilled, which is why Im not asking for advice nor for this fight to be easier. Im just commenting on an obvious difference between this level and every other level in the game, which again, is what the early access is for. Have a nice day.
So I will probably make the same suggestion if Im ever able to reach that level lol.
Also "as well", as well from what lmao you made no actual point so far...
