Adam the Firstborn
I absolutely despise this boss fight, mainly his AI, his ability to area denial his entire arena, AND his second ♥♥♥♥♥ health bar. To start, im not saying hes overpowered or unbeatable, me and my friend have gotten his second health bar down to half a couple times (though we havnt beat him yet). I'm saying this boss fight is so UNBELIEVABLY annoying.

Props to the devs for making such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI for this guy. And I don't mean ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as in its bad or terrible. I mean ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as in I feel like im fighting a pro league player or a pro MMORPG pvper. Like they've got a handful of pro players just sitting at a desk waiting for someone to challenge this dude so they can lean forward in their chairs and just pub stomp your teeth in. Why do i feel like im fighting an actual player? Everything about the way he fights, from ignoring minions and my dash clone completely. Turning left or right slightly at the end of his 3 hit combo so attempting to dodge left or right means you get hit anyway. Constantly throwing me and my friend so perfectly that we always land either in the wall laser path or a 'just so happen to be spawning right there' lightning strike. And even the perfectly timed dodges almost as if he knows you're going to cast the ability before you even do. Everything about the AI of this boss just doesn't feel like actual AI but like im fighting another player and it is so infuriating and just outright not fun.

This is the first boss I have actually felt is just not good (includes how the bosses were before the update as well). Everything he does knocks you back and can cancel your abilities, he has two arena wide AoE attacks on top of the constantly respawning wall lasers. Two grabs, one of which he just LOVES spamming (the stab shock).

We're gonna try again tomorrow after some resource grinding (went through like 60 healing potions between the two of us). I think we can do it ive gotten pretty good at dodging most of his attacks though i still dont know a good combination of abilities to use against him. We've got the best gear we possibly can have so we cant upgrade our stuff or anything.

Idk like i said its doable its just really annoying.

It took me many hours of trying and THEN i decided to try something else. I started to search for a 100% scholar that i didnt had before. I eventually found it and used it in the fight against Adam. It was like beating him on the first try, except i got a disconnect at the first try or else i did beat him. So i got him right after that.

With 100% scholar you dont need healing spells or defensive spells. Nuking him down will heal you just fine. I used chaos volley and void. 1 chaos volley takes down an entire electical device in the room. The fight is over in a few minutes.

I... absolutely loved this fight.

When he tilts his 3-hit side-to-side, he's actually aiming directly at you as you're moving and trying to predict your location but the first two swipes are, actually, already at an angle. First from his right-to-left, then from his left-to-right, then a down-smash. If you are in melee, it means you have to dodge the start of his attack BUT if you're at range, due to him firing across his center, the ranged projectiles go out to force a dodge in the opposite direction. Pretty much with 100% reliability you can dodge the first two, step into melee before the third, and just circle him forcing him to miss his area-denial attack.

It's absolutely amazing design and I loved brawling with him so much.

His grapple is so easily dealt with it's hysterical... the only hard part for me was not panicking and mis-reading it as a melee chain, causing me to blow a parry against it and getting grabbed anyways.

Going into his phase 3 is a different story due to how his 3-hit combo encircles you. He forces a lot of side-to-side and saving your dodge/parry for the end of the combo is key. Such a fun fight :)

It might seem like a cop-out for PvE but sustain gear is always my go-to. If you can't lose, they can't win... Blood Parry, Sangiune Coil w/ Extra Bounce Jewel, Blood Veil, and 100% Brute Blood. Axes provide high-pressure melee DPS, an additional dash if needed, huge damage off of a variable-range weapon ability, and fast attacks.

oh yea i know about his left and right on the first two swings but im talking about the third attack in the combo, the slam down. He'll turn slightly left or right while im running directly away from him in order to try and predict a dodge, like im fighting a vet pvper. Ive been using 92% brute, my friend is using 94% scholar, we've both got the bloodmoon armor, I'm using a legendary ancient claymore and hes using legendary ancient slicers and pistols. He tries to stay at range while i get up in his face (which might explain why he targets me and only me...), and how we survive is when I get low I run out of the room to heal while he takes aggro for a bit. We've gotten him to his second health bar like 3 times and the furthest we've gotten is half way down his second half bar. It really feels do-able I just dont really feel like im having fun fighting this dude. Its a really cool fight and props to the devs for the AI they made for the guy I just personally aint really having fun (this is not me saying it should be changed, this is just me venting as last night was very frustrating)

This is one of the most annoying fights I have ever played. :steamsalty:
I have stopped counting how many times he has killed me.

The developer has clearly taken the reflexes and gameplay of more advanced players into account here.

It's a pity, because this way I'm more or less denied the last soul shard.

it took us 2 tries to beat this boss, just always destroy the electric machines around and wait for the right time to punish him

i think 2v1 adam is trivializing it. voice chat is so invaluable here. one can just run out of the arena and heal. i dare say you can fight him at frailed blood and without potions. drag the fight as one of you goes away and heal. survive long and whittle his hp away.

@Mynx you're right that he does advanced tracking but he's not the only troop to do that... in fact, every enemy since level 47 has been doing that. The entirety of the Silverlight Foothills does predictive tracking where they identify your current pace and, if you maintain it after their tracking window ends, they will hit you (unless you dodge/block). Same goes for Adam.

Adam has a tracking window for his 3-strikes; each attack has it's own window. If you are moving to the left, identify when the window ends, and then stop moving/reverse direction so he will miss to your left (unless you're too close to him). The final attack of his combo (before phase 3) can be dodged reliably by drifting lazily backwards and to the left, then just stopping moving... I generally step into the swing and use my parry to cause more damage faster while guaranteeing my safety but it's dodge-able by WASD.

After phase 3 that third hit is nasty... but, at that point, it's less about tracking and more about a colossal doom-AoE! Haha. Fun stuff.

3rd hit can also be avoided by moving in closer if i remember right, cus the point where it splits in a bit away from the boss.

i mostly just run circles around the boss in close melee letting the 2nd shot hit me

Personally that didn't bother me much since I don't care about increasing my physical power. I play this game with the intent to spam spells so Scholar Blood and Winged Horror Soul Shard for me all day baybeee

What I like to do is take Ice Block with me. Then I can dodge the first hit, and then immediately freeze myself. Ice Block will tank both the second and third hit with it's shields while also healing you and it'll shatter right after.

Ice BLock is also nice for when he does his "Drop from the sky" move. Pop it right before he drops down in the big circle.
