With 100% scholar you dont need healing spells or defensive spells. Nuking him down will heal you just fine. I used chaos volley and void. 1 chaos volley takes down an entire electical device in the room. The fight is over in a few minutes.
When he tilts his 3-hit side-to-side, he's actually aiming directly at you as you're moving and trying to predict your location but the first two swipes are, actually, already at an angle. First from his right-to-left, then from his left-to-right, then a down-smash. If you are in melee, it means you have to dodge the start of his attack BUT if you're at range, due to him firing across his center, the ranged projectiles go out to force a dodge in the opposite direction. Pretty much with 100% reliability you can dodge the first two, step into melee before the third, and just circle him forcing him to miss his area-denial attack.
It's absolutely amazing design and I loved brawling with him so much.
His grapple is so easily dealt with it's hysterical... the only hard part for me was not panicking and mis-reading it as a melee chain, causing me to blow a parry against it and getting grabbed anyways.
Going into his phase 3 is a different story due to how his 3-hit combo encircles you. He forces a lot of side-to-side and saving your dodge/parry for the end of the combo is key. Such a fun fight :)
It might seem like a cop-out for PvE but sustain gear is always my go-to. If you can't lose, they can't win... Blood Parry, Sangiune Coil w/ Extra Bounce Jewel, Blood Veil, and 100% Brute Blood. Axes provide high-pressure melee DPS, an additional dash if needed, huge damage off of a variable-range weapon ability, and fast attacks.
I have stopped counting how many times he has killed me.
The developer has clearly taken the reflexes and gameplay of more advanced players into account here.
It's a pity, because this way I'm more or less denied the last soul shard.
Adam has a tracking window for his 3-strikes; each attack has it's own window. If you are moving to the left, identify when the window ends, and then stop moving/reverse direction so he will miss to your left (unless you're too close to him). The final attack of his combo (before phase 3) can be dodged reliably by drifting lazily backwards and to the left, then just stopping moving... I generally step into the swing and use my parry to cause more damage faster while guaranteeing my safety but it's dodge-able by WASD.
After phase 3 that third hit is nasty... but, at that point, it's less about tracking and more about a colossal doom-AoE! Haha. Fun stuff.
3rd hit can also be avoided by moving in closer if i remember right, cus the point where it splits in a bit away from the boss.
i mostly just run circles around the boss in close melee letting the 2nd shot hit me
What I like to do is take Ice Block with me. Then I can dodge the first hit, and then immediately freeze myself. Ice Block will tank both the second and third hit with it's shields while also healing you and it'll shatter right after.
Ice BLock is also nice for when he does his "Drop from the sky" move. Pop it right before he drops down in the big circle.
