Confused with Dawnthorn
Perhaps I'm being monkey brained, but I expected the Dawnthorn armor set to be an upgrade after Merciless Hollowfang.

But it seems like more of a side grade. It drops the bonus to movement and attack speed in exchange for HP, and then bumps up your gear level.

But does gear level itself do anything? I actually don't know the mechanic. I thought it just measured how good your gear was, increasing the number itself doesn't do anything explicitly.

So... If I'm comfortable losing 48 HP, wouldn't the Merciless Hollowfang set be better? Or does having a higher gear score actually help in some way?

Ahhh! I see! Thank you for explaining it for me :)

Also I hadn't noticed earlier, but I did find that if one hovers your Gear Level in the character screen it explains that. Oops.
