Free Halloween DLC now available, until 10th

According to a dev in V Rising discord the pack is available until the 10th. Be sure to grab it before then.

just downloaded it . Cannot believe I didn't know about it , those new items make all the difference. Also the newest DLC is worth it .

Yeah its carpet, wall cobwebs and floating lantern go well with a lot.

The Sinister Evolution pack is great for alchemy room and forge. Now if only we could have the plague mask together with the vampire hunter's hat, it would be perfect.

If i press "Download" the game starts. What am i doing wrong? I have it in my library but dont know how to install it.

You sure you haven't already added it to your account? You can see the DLCs if you select V Rising in your Steam library and scroll down. There's a "DLC" section to the right. See example image here: https://imgur.com/a/6z8Q9L0

If you have it, it should be downloaded with the game when you install it without need for separate downloads. You can check if it's enabled by clicking the "Manage My x DLC" button.

if i dont have the game installed currently do i need to reinstall it and then can i delete it again and still keep the dlc access? how does that work?

No you don't need to install it. Just make sure the DLC shows in your game's DLC section, like the screenshot in my comment above shows. If it does, you have it.

it does show there but it says added JUNE 30th which makes no sense to me. hence why i asked.

You should have it then, yes. Mine shows my DLC was added in May 2022, so it may be just a visual bug.

You can test if you have it in-game easily by making a private game and choosing "PvE Endgame-Level 80" ruleset. This will give you endgame level unlocks and gear. Then start the game and see if you have the DLC decorations by opening building menu, no need to build anything.

Make sure it is marked with a checkmark ✓ symbol on the "install" column in the Manage DLC section if you do.
