Is the bat form useful?
Just looked at the wiki and found that you can only carry teleportable items, I thought that kinda sucks. Besides reaching certain points in the map, I don`t see how it matters. If it is night, I wish I could use the bat form regardless of the items in the inventory.

It is practical to go to the traders in the city without having to deal with soldiers alot.
If you pinpoint on the map you can easely land near any of the shops and disquise yourself without having to fight soldiers.

It is also handy for scouting enemy castles in pvp or just admiring them in pve.
It is also fun to scout some of the area's all over the map as they are quite beautifull.

it is a pvp game and if traveling on the map becomes completly absolete then players will not encounter each other other than raids.

If this is your server, you can disable teleport bound items in the server settings and you will be able to teleport, and bat form no meter what is in your inventory.
A side from the above post it can also be used to move to specific places quickly.
For example you would teleport in to the nearest way gait turn in to bat and fly over to the silver mine entrance, or the quarts quarry or Solerus’s temple, and when you are dun collecting your stuff, you summon a horse and ride back home

To add to this in regards to server settings if you play on a private game (SP) I quote myself;
You can even change the setting after you already started. An example path of mine; C:\Users\INSERTYOURUSERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\CloudSaves\76561198073081385\v2\9dbaa1e4-f15b-4676-ad54-d022c736359e

After \CouldSaves just search for the folder of your game, go to V2 and just look for the savegame that you need. There you edit ServerGameSettings.json with a text editor and if you don't have it in the file already, copy and insert "TeleportBoundItems": false," (with ") so the first few lines look like this (this is how that part looks in my json)

{
"GameModeType": 0,
"CastleDamageMode": 0,
"CastleHeartDamageMode": 0,
"DeathContainerPermission": 1,
"RelicSpawnType": 1,
"CanLootEnemyContainers": false,
"TeleportBoundItems": false,

If you want to edit more values but don't find them in your save, that's because it only shows modified parameters. D:\Game Related\Steam\steamapps\common\VRising\VRising_Server\VRisingServer_Data\StreamingAssets\Settings There you can find a "vanilla" json with all parameters, just do the same as with TeleportBoundItems and edit the value^^

Tried PvP serves with teleport enabled, it ends with everyone going AFK in base as theres no incentive to go out, just teleport where you want or bat fly there...

Definitely useful. Same speed as horse but no terrain restrictions. You can get into certain places easier, even if leaving with resources isn't possible.

same speed as a horse?!
Are you riding a donkey with a carrot in front of him?
Look out for faster horses and give them a sadle. from what i remember horse go from around 8 speed to 13 if i remember correctly. Stats are always random when u first ride one.

Tested a max speed horse, yes. With a saddle though, horse is a little faster from the +1
Max speed is 11 and bat form is 10.8

It used to be VERY useful at launch. You could scout nearby players on the ground while flying around, pinpointing each players base / ambushing them from the sky etc. Then they realised that bat form was too much fun, and this game cannot be about fun - so they absolutely nerfed it to just a simple ''scout bases/somewhat handy traversal tool, but not really as the tamed horse will still be better''

Pretty sure it was never possible to see players from bat form. The main thing they nerfed was being able to land in corners of peoples bases. During siege, you could backdoor and it was a real pain to deal with.

It was possible, thru Socials tab on the right side, while it was open you could fly around and see players in proximity. Corner landing too got nerfed but that was actually a welcome riddance, in fact that shoulda been the only thing they patched for bat form. The bat form proximity scouting shoulda been developed even further, perhaps make bat form slower, somehow visible for players ON the ground just barely (to give some potential heads up if they kept an eye out), and while you're flying you could simply actually see the players on the ground, instead of having to look in the Socials tab. Bat form was the perfect ambush tool, and still could've been, but devs lack vision/drive/motivation/idk.

Flying back to bosses that you died in is my most common use. Going to the merchants etc. Scouting the map and enemy players. It used to have more pvp related uses before they changed how castle layouts worked.

Proximity in social tab?! That's nuts lol.

It's extremely abusive, people still do that anyway with maphack vision and is in fact super broken.

Cool thing to do if your playing alone or with like minded friends is to disable the teleport so you can port with what ever, and reduce the bat form boss to level 1 and immediately available. this is handy if you want to greatly reduce the build time/levelling time required and shorten the over all game time. Or for if you just want to build something cool. makes getting around early game really fast.
