PVP level disparity
The disparity between low and high levels gets farther and farther each update, removing one of my favorite parts of the game. Day 1 you could fight someone 20 levels up and win. Gloomrot massively reduced that and 1.0 even further. Not gonna finish this until it's addressed. Was excited to come back and give this another whack, and was hugely disappointed. The QoL and PvE updates are amazing, and brutal difficulty is great! But i feel like they are really missing the mark and losing sight of the PvP aspect that a lot of people loved. The fact that someone higher level doesn't auto win... but now there's literally 18 passives, not to mention 4 star ability gems, on top of the level cap raising and gear being even stronger, while the low level stuff stayed the same
I think an easy solution to this would be to inverse the PvE scaling, make it so for every level you are higher than another player, you get increasing penalties while fighting them.

The level cap thing is something I definitely noticed, since I usually try to fight people within 10-15 levels of myself I feel like increasing the level cap just widened that gap and made those encounters less frequent.

I just get rekt by level 80 or 90-something players while i'm 50, they're really fast because of their passives and their undead horses. I mean they're not even good players, they even don't switch weapons but it's just impossible for me to keep up in pvp servers just because some people get to play the game earlier so they can stomp newbies. The worst thing is you can't even outrun them, once they see you you're dead and when you die you lose 20% durability fantastic lol

Some games try to equalize player stats. So the players take and deal relatively the same amount of damage. I.E., a level 100 player might have more health and physical power than a level 10 player, but both players can kill the other in the same number of hits (assuming same weapons).

The Level 100 will still have more passives, access to bonuses (e.g. potions), and options (more abilities, spells, gems, etc.). But at least you're equalizing the stat disparity. If you also want to equalize the options disparity, you could just give lower level players even more scaling.

Another possibility would be to make it so that you don't lose any durability or drop any loot if you die to a player who is 1 tier (or more) above you. I.E., if you're in coppers and a player in irons kills you, you don't lose durability/items.
actually you can be glad that they finally implemented QoL and PvE stuff. i cant remember how often people complained during EA that stunlock only cares for PvP and now they finally did something more on the PvE side and the PvP players that got pampered before complain in an instant.

in my humble opinion the game is still way too much PvP related which makes literally no sense to me when you are req to farm stuff and can even loose your castle that you build for hours or maybe even weeks in an blink of an eye with just one unfair gank.

also you can still see that stunlock still cares more for PvP than PvE on the new implemented shards mechanic. they only changed it because it was overpowered in PvP by giving actual great statbuffs in PvE. now with the change to amulets and they not giving passive buffs anymore they are literally worthless for PvE some even claim for PvP aswell.

So freaking dumb the devs never addressed this. This is why these open world free for all PvP games near universally suck major donkeyballs. THere's no structure, and it always ends up the same way, with top level end game players just stomping low level players.

Like, EVE online despite being the sequel to microsoft excel managed to figure out how to balance this decades ago by having powerful NPC guardians that would respond to PK-ing depending on the security level of the zone you were in. Killing players more than 15 gear levels below you should get a Belmont sent on your ass or something to discourage newbie stomping.

just shut up lol. People were right to criticize a game with no actual ending and no end game content besides the shards

The fact that they're pissing off BOTH sides of the coin isn't a good thing. Before the PVE was lackluster, and now every patch makes the level disparity PVP worse. They just CANT hit the mark and release good updates. Even this last patch, reduced the CC on just ONE SPELL in a game that's PVP is DOMINATED by crowd control

Don't think there is really a way to fix this with the current passives system unless they equalized everyone by completely turning off the passives amongst other things.

Stuff like if you are fighting against someone who is 10 gear levels lower than you, that person would get some sort of buff or you would receive some sort of nerf to even the playing field.

Sounds like the current system does not really reward skill for the most part.

"just because some people get to play the game earlier so they can stomp newbies."

yeah thats exactly why. lmfao what a joke
Smug Kot Jun 5, 2024 @ 3:11pm
The thing is, skill is more important than item level, and if the higher level just suck, they will get humillated vs experienced people with lower gear.

Yeah PvP in this game is a joke. Instead of competitive PvP it's more sadist/masochist style PvP where you are at the mercy of psychopaths who get off on 1 tapping players 20+ levels below them. I used to enjoy this when I was a little kid doing world PvP in World of Warcraft, but as an adult it's just straight up shameful and embarrassing to play like that again. I say let the children enjoy this style of PvP and I'd recommend adults stick with the PvE game mode.

You can 1v4 players of same gearscore if they're the average player.
