First of all I don't super remember being "underleveled" gear wise before these bosses? have you upgraded your armour to a "set" using Maja's study, have you upgraded the necklace you gain access to through Leandra? have you gotten a merciless weapon yet?, you might need to invest some time into unlocking Maja study things. If you can spend silver at merchants now through human form, that can help speed the process up. Also I highly recommend you craft the slasher weapon and get familiar with it.
I am also not sure..have you tried engaging with the bosses at all or?
Meredith: You can stalk her and wait for her to engage with the other boss in the mines, and just go in for the kill...it is a little dangerous though cause you might explode in the crossfire so be careful where you are standing, and watch out for if the small minions might be focusing you, but they explode each other quite fast.
Terah: I will admit there is something about her enraged spam rocks attack that I don't super understand how to counter/dodge in a "legal" way....but what I do is there is a tiny leveled hill that I stay close to when I know that boss may use the attack any second, (when she is in stone golem form and below 50%, and if it starts roaring). Otherwise mainly you want to stay ranged (bow is nice), and have a good way of cleaving all the tiny rocks with your spells and the bow is good still (you have to kill that pale green ghost first to be able to damage the boss at all). You can skip her for now if you find her to be too annoying what she offers isn't super important at this point imo.
Frostmaw: Unfortunately you need him the most of those three imo. He can be super overwhelming with his spam freeze attacks, what I do is throw whatever projectiles I can at him, and I keep hiding behind stuff...trees...terrain etc (try to clear the area of wolves/bears)...I use slashers to mitigate the annoying phase where he spawns a winter storm and keeps trying to take a hit at you randomly, and when the storm ends he comes in for a big hit, through stealth/q. You can use counters/other weapons dodgey abilities, you can also try asking for help if you are in a populated server.
Terah melts to a ranged weapon, I was surprised how easy she as to fight with chaos bolts and a crossbow. Everything is avoidable and easy to whittle down in her fight. Frostmaw was hard to dodge in his tight spaces but block spells are important when he rushes in to melee. Meredith practically died to the undead general in the mines as they fight often so that was a freebie lol.
So once you get those skills set up specifically for Maja the Dark Servant I would recomend the following. Start in the middle using your Longbow, doge her attack and weave in your own, I'd recomend bringing a high damage or crowd control melee weapon as well for the following phase. When she tries to consume one of her adds its best to try and kill it or knock it away - to do that either use the Axes E or the Mace E. They do wonders in that situation. Avoid the books that swirl around in the room by repositioning on the edge, the boss likes to kite back from you, so use this to your advantage.
In case you mean the boss which gives you the upgrade to the neckless she is a pain in the butt and i got her with luck being on my side, I do think that boss is almost perfect for double counter gaming - Blood Rite + Ward of the Damned. I did her using a combo of Longbow and Sword - sword to take out the shadows when they rush to attack you (you probably know it but still if you hit those shadows, that try to dash and attack you they disapear).
Consumables and blood -What you are describing is the point where I felt the most stuck once reaching max lvl from gear and in order to proceed you need to kill a boss that is out of your league, the next thing you should look for is time for a blood moon or get a high quality blood such as Rogue/Warrior/Scholar I feel like are good for bossing. Also do not forget the brew of ferocity and the magic one which name escapes my mind currently.
Why are you so undergeared? The highest deficit i've seen in terms of progression is 2-3, if you craft every currently possible gear for your stage you will do much better.
Indeed, you can always match V Bloods in normal (and presumably be 3 levels behind in Brutal) though I couldn't say for certain if it doesn't get funky around that level.
50 bosses would be Maja the Dark Savant which you need to unlock research, right? I don't recall how closely you can match her before actually getting to do research.
And even after you unlock it, you can't approach the traders in Dunley without beating Bane, who would be 53. so you might not even get much out of it immediately.
After the start of Act 2, gearscore 44-45 SEEMED to be a soft cap until you kill more bosses to progress further because, and I ♥♥♥♥ you not, I forgot the existence of Tailoring Bench.
So I was trying to do Kriig and Maja (over 15 attempts total) with lvl 4 armor
I have only ever used consumables once for Quincy, but will start chugging them down now. Might finally get some use out of those stacks of herbs from my garden.
*I forgot to make the Tailoring bench so was on lvl 5 gear, which is why everything was so hard.
So Maja is exactly at lvl 50, and unlocking her gives you the study which allows you to learn new recipes, without which you are so weak.
Frostmaw, terrah and the like are lvl 56 so quite a bit away from my level. Although after Maja I need to do Frostmaw for thick hide to be able to make better armor, or grind silver to buy it from the vendors
