Internet Connections in Single-player?
Hello, i've just started a single-player game, but i noticed several internet connections from both V-rising and V-rising Server processes. I also have in-game telemetry turned off.

My questions are:

1. Why is my game constantly talking to V-rising servers in a single-player world.
2. Why does the game not have a 'pause' option in SP, and is it coming?
3. If the servers ever shut down, will i still be able to play this game offline solo?
4. If my internet shuts off/DCs, will i still be able to launch my solo world?

Love for some early backer feedback on these issues. My info. on this game is limited.

Thank you, Tobby.

Its a multiplayer game first with a single player mode second. So the answer to your questions are you are screwed in all situations if youre not online

Quite easy to test, just shut down your internet connection, and see how it goes

I just tested it, and it works without internet connection, at least if you selkect "only solo play", Haven't tested without that option.

So it works without internet, yet it speaks to servers? why? is my question i guess xD
I might just try firewalling it.

Yeah, no idea. Did you disable telemetry ? You know, the analytics. Unity games have "backtrace" also, VRising uses it. So maybe even without data collection, backtrace still sends things to Unity servers.

Then yeah, maybe it's backtrace. Would have to look at the specific packets sent and to what ip with a sniffer to be sure. This is way outside my expertise.

Ye so i firewalled the processes and it constantly spammed connections to different servers/mirrors (which i assume are unity and steam servers). They really want that telemetry.

The server is hosted locally on your machine. You'll find a few games do it this way for single player, the best example that I played a lot was Conan Exiles and the single player was the same.

This much i already know, the issue is not to do with the local V-Rising Server, but rather the outbound connections constantly occurring while playing solo/private.

Basically i'm trying to understand why it needs to do this, and in the future, if the servers go down, will i still be able to play the game i spent money on solo/privately.

Yesterday I booted up this game to play my single-player world while I was rebooting my router, as it was showing some WiFi issues. The game started up fine but after a couple of minutes it disconnected me from my own PC-hosted server, saying there were authentication errors? I have it set up for solo only play, I can't remember what I chose for the whole developer feedback thing, but it annoyed me.

Thankfully when I connected a few minutes later after my router had finished rebooting, I was still in the same place and it looked like my progress had been saved.

I do really wish I could press pause though, I live in a world where I can get called away from my PC at random times, and at the moment, I just end up shutting the game down instead.

Very interesting, thank you for the feedback, i'll have to do more testing, maybe it has something to do with anti-cheat or DRM, who knows.

Only devs know, maybe it's an anti-cheat/DRM.

SP ins't their priority, so I think not.

No. But this game was *******.

Turn off your route, you won't be able to start your "offline" solo mode.

To sum up, we don't own the game, game requires constant internet connection, and don't buy from them again.
