Sword is the most slept on weapon in the game.
I use controller, but which of the abilities is its gap closer? I can think of a "toss and stun" that only works on trash mobs, the beyblade mode, and the normal fast combo.
Some bosses i used pistols for Evasion and range.
Slashers are in the same boat with Greatsword for Evasion and the camouflage lets me buy some seconds for a spell or dash recovery or to get some breathing room.
I always carry slashers, axes, pistols, long bow.
Scythe, I was forced to try this weapon cause I got a lucky legendary for it...the E is very good damage, just need to land it, and also since the q is not super great that means it's a great weapon to use along another weapon that has a great Q. I think bow/crossbows q are good for even more aoe/ranged play, but mace q for "repositioning" is pretty good too.
Bow vs Crossbow: I feel like bow now is probably overall better, but...crossbows Q allows for damaging enemies while kiting them around terrain and denying line of sight, that along with ground aoe spells can really help with certain bosses I find.
Ranging bosses while having defensive spells stacked works pretty well for a lot of them.
Greatsword, the E dodge is an additional tool for dodging to play around, and if you have a lot of aa speed it does amazing wide cleaving damage. The Q is actually good at covering distances that if you are escaping something it helps.
Axes: The q covers distance, has good cleave, and the E is..well amazing..and axe legendary is probably the best weapon in the game.
Lance/Sword: These two I actually find pve wise...mmm..I mean swords E is a pretty good "phaseout" ability, but it does require landing the skill shot, and it forces you to be next to what you targeted, so...it's harder to use "carelessly". They are very good in pvp..pve I just, don't find them super amazing personally compared to the rest...especially the lance. The lance does have the unique bonus to creatures going for it.
Pistols...a lot of players love this weapon...I dunno I find its range weird haven't developed a taste for it yet. I assume they like the dodge?
Whip, I really wanted to like this weapon enough to main it...but something about it feels a bit trollish. It is very good though against certain trash enemies that love to dodge/move away from your attacks/spells, so things like archers/rifle men/blinking around scholars, and E is a pretty strong disable tbh. Boss wise though I dunno about using it...lol.
For example, i like xbow primary attack due to my way of play, while the legendary effect on q give the weapon more dps which is a plus
For E skill, either i swapped to legendary reaper for spawning skeleton army out of the blue, or Endbringer pistol E for single target.
Mace was dropped early because way too unreliable.
I completed the brutal difficulty using only a greatsword ( as soon as i could play it ), in PvP
The first skill is insane due to the 150% damages and the crazy range, as for the second skill, it triggers a jumping attack which you can use as a dodge, I highly recommend it
The basic attacks also deal very good damages.
