Weapon advice
I've been exploring weapons, but it feels like ONLY the mace is "viable" is boss fights, with the axes as a secondary option. Sword is AMAZING for trash encounters, but it doesn't seem to have the mobility of those two weapons, trading it for higher DPS. With those two, I effectively have two charges of dash to evade attacks or close, with the mace outright jumping me over attacks to dodge them. I want to figure most things out for myself, but can I have basic "pointers" for using the other weapons?

Me I like the xbow because I stand back and use spells in boss fights, and I use the mace for trash... And I am gonan eat and finally get pistols unlocked see how good they are. But I always liked the xbow for boss fights. Few that are too fast for xbow, I use mace. But most part I just use E and Q attacks with xbow while waiting for my spell cds.

I find the sword to be very effective at dealing with everything. It has decent mobility during normal swings, but its Q gives a speed burst while ignoring unit collision, which makes it excellent for slipping right through bosses to get behind their attacks while dealing damage the whole way through. Then its E ability is a gap closer, a stun on small targets, and an i-frame as well.

Sword is the most slept on weapon in the game.

I use controller, but which of the abilities is its gap closer? I can think of a "toss and stun" that only works on trash mobs, the beyblade mode, and the normal fast combo.

The "toss and stun" is the gap closer. Press it again within about 1.5 seconds and you teleport to the target and perform a triple-slash while invulnerable. Bosses aren't lifted, but the triple-slash can still be used. The initial wave you send out has some serious range on it, too.

Depends on the boss as well, some of them will destroy you in melee, but whip out a bow and you down it easy.

About all of my encounters and general and boss combat has been with greatsword. Q ability allows me to close the gap and E to hop over attacks.

Some bosses i used pistols for Evasion and range.

Slashers are in the same boat with Greatsword for Evasion and the camouflage lets me buy some seconds for a spell or dash recovery or to get some breathing room.

I enjoy using crossbow, pistols and whip, all weapons are viable you just need to find they one that clicks better with your style. :cozybethesda:

Axes are godly for clearing trash mobs and pretty good for bosses too, i use axes for dps and slashers for iframes and aggro breaking,

I always carry slashers, axes, pistols, long bow.

I've been really enjoying axe and mace. Mace for the stunlock combination and axe for the stun as well and generally being fast. I hate ranged weapons like the bow and crossbow, they're not really my style

Personally I find slashers the most fun...I don't really AA with it, I damage through spells/summons, and maybe an occasional q. The stealth and the phasing through q feels pretty good to me, I think it's a lot better at pveing than pvping.

Scythe, I was forced to try this weapon cause I got a lucky legendary for it...the E is very good damage, just need to land it, and also since the q is not super great that means it's a great weapon to use along another weapon that has a great Q. I think bow/crossbows q are good for even more aoe/ranged play, but mace q for "repositioning" is pretty good too.

Bow vs Crossbow: I feel like bow now is probably overall better, but...crossbows Q allows for damaging enemies while kiting them around terrain and denying line of sight, that along with ground aoe spells can really help with certain bosses I find.
Ranging bosses while having defensive spells stacked works pretty well for a lot of them.

Greatsword, the E dodge is an additional tool for dodging to play around, and if you have a lot of aa speed it does amazing wide cleaving damage. The Q is actually good at covering distances that if you are escaping something it helps.

Axes: The q covers distance, has good cleave, and the E is..well amazing..and axe legendary is probably the best weapon in the game.

Lance/Sword: These two I actually find pve wise...mmm..I mean swords E is a pretty good "phaseout" ability, but it does require landing the skill shot, and it forces you to be next to what you targeted, so...it's harder to use "carelessly". They are very good in pvp..pve I just, don't find them super amazing personally compared to the rest...especially the lance. The lance does have the unique bonus to creatures going for it.

Pistols...a lot of players love this weapon...I dunno I find its range weird haven't developed a taste for it yet. I assume they like the dodge?

Whip, I really wanted to like this weapon enough to main it...but something about it feels a bit trollish. It is very good though against certain trash enemies that love to dodge/move away from your attacks/spells, so things like archers/rifle men/blinking around scholars, and E is a pretty strong disable tbh. Boss wise though I dunno about using it...lol.

Talking about weapon on v rising is more of a"which part of weapon/skill you use" than what type of weapon that you use as a general

For example, i like xbow primary attack due to my way of play, while the legendary effect on q give the weapon more dps which is a plus

For E skill, either i swapped to legendary reaper for spawning skeleton army out of the blue, or Endbringer pistol E for single target.

Weird, I felt the mace does crap damage. Mostly been using axes and scythe. Greatsword was kinda fun but the E doesn't do enough damage, only 100%?

Between sword, crossbow, slashers, and pistols...I havent needed anything else.

Mace was dropped early because way too unreliable.

Greatsword E is a sneaky dodge because that time up in the air before you slam down makes you avoid attacks while stationary. Even if you miss the hit, at least you were up in the air dodging.

I completed the brutal difficulty using only a greatsword ( as soon as i could play it ), in PvP

The first skill is insane due to the 150% damages and the crazy range, as for the second skill, it triggers a jumping attack which you can use as a dodge, I highly recommend it

The basic attacks also deal very good damages.
