Point to note is that you can run into Militia mobs in Silverlight too and they'll just drop the base silvers.
The ones who don't drop it is...is the small guys with pikes and rifles, and the "act 1" units.
Where I farmed them is next to the grape farms at the gates of the city, the patrols tend to have the speciality units.
The church is ok as well...but need be a little more prepared to go in there if you are at the "equal" level of it.
The big city is...actually not that great to farm them I find personally lol.
A cart would have a good chunk of them...maybe though not always.
I could be blind, but I really don't think I ever looted them from a "chest" in the city..in the hills..no where in chests, which is probably designed to counter "run in underleveled loot chests" tactics lol. Or even "trash crates" I don't think? I feel I got them only from killing the units.
The leather is easy because you buy a 4-pack at the cost of 20 Goldsun Coins, and we just need 36 of them, this is 200 Goldsun Coins. But the Silk (I think it's Silk) you buy one for 20 Goldsun Coins, and we need 24 of those. Basically 700 Goldsun Coins at total.
Gonna wager you're on Brutal, or I'd suggest taking care of Ben the Old Wanderer in a straight fight *to unlock leather and his cloak. He's really not that bad if you can clean out the area around him and then keep dashing ahead to keep him in a given radius since he just loves to turn around to keep running away from you.
EDIT: to clarify the reason
Gotcha, figured I'd still float the idea for you. I'd rather use my Goldsuns on grape seeds since those can be a bit more scarce, but I can see the merit too.
Gives you periods where you can decide you want to poke the spider too, and see if you can punch her out and shorten the future grind.
