Official server full with existing character, no queue system

Its kind of frustrating to have spent 30+ hours on a character on an official server and not be able to get in with no queue functionality.

When I joined the server there was only 12 people and many free castle spots.

My existing character is level 65 with 6 days of castle heart expiry.

Am i wrong to think existing characters should have priority?
At least I would expect a queue, at the moment I need to keep checking periodically and its been full for hours.

It honestly makes me wish i could refund.
