PVE doesn't seem feasible in this game, unless a server is barely active.
So I've stumbled upon a paradox, that is killing the online aspect of the game for me. So I'm not a sweat lord and I don't like to have to grind and progress fast, which is imperative at the moment. Cause while the idea and concept of a castle heart living longer, each time you upgrade it is ideal.

It also implements a problem, that I don't think the devs fully thought about. Which if any developer of the game reads this forum, I'd like to know if you guys are aware of this and if you are working on a feasible solution for it.

Cause I like to take my time and progress at my own pace, but the limited plots is making that concept difficult. Cause it appears to be a popular opinion, that Dunley is the best place to live at. So much so that players are literally gate keeping plots in Dunley and players like me who want to progress and move to a more convenient location, that fits our needs and is more conventional for tracking down the mid tier bosses are unable to.

And waiting it out would require luck, if the server continues to be active. Cause someone else can just swoop in and then proceed to gate keep and the cycle continues. What is worse is that eventually, when a server gets closer to max and with people gate keeping plots. New players would have, to go into the more dangerous areas and build a base there, since all of the starter plots are full.

Since no one can move to Dunley and no one in Dunley is moving to the higher end areas. Which results in servers dying quicker and people avoiding high capacity servers. Which doesn't solve the issue, cause the cycle is just going to viciously repeat. Until the player base for online play dwindles, due to this frustrating dilemma.

PVE servers die out, because people complete the game and there's nothing else to do. All fun is on PVP servers.

Not being able to get a plot in Dunley is not causing the game to die lmao

Lay a castle literally anywhere else you can have as many as four legs to run around with

I Play PVE with friends.. I have 610 hours in this game all PVE. I'd never play on an official server.

Once you can use caves the starting forest makes a very very nice location for bases.

You can go straight to the snowy area in wolf form, the wildlife wont attack you in that form. And once you build your waygate you can have your castle literally anywhere and never have to leave it. Just sneak around the high level enemies until you build one.

Youre "far" away from everything if you go middle dunley for example.
Youre better off making your base in farbane being close to the cave exits.

PvE server's die because once people finish the game they just quit not much else to do and most of em don't even finish it the grind is harsh, Ive finished the game killed dracula now im just decorating my castle, helping people in my server and finishing my unique weapon collection.

Why not move to Gloomrot South or even Silverlight you will spend alot of time there plus it has quick access to Dunley, once you can turn into a bat the place you built your base becomes pretty irrelevant.

Mainly a solo player here 640+ hours. Publicly, I'm post game on 2 servers, with complete vbloods.

I pretty much PVE exclusively. Not into PVP, and not a try-hard. I like the game for the feel of it, combat, exploration, helping out. I keep all my old gear in my castles, and will actively scale down to match other players levels who i help out, as not tor deprive them of the experience. I honestly enjoy just helping others, and soaking in the vibe of the game's gothic atmosphere, with vampire powers, and dark magics. But I refuse to "carry" others.

I have seen many PVE servers fold up, because they often exist only to serve the server owner. The owners don't want to help others, they just want to have a populated server that helps them, until they decide they're bored of the game. Love of ambiance, and celebrating the setting for what it is, must be a rare thing these days.

Find a server that allow waygates with any stuff in the inventory. Makes things easier to get to your castle if its placed far off.
And if you dont want to grind, there is servers that have a higher amount of drop, so you wont have to spend a whole day just grinding. :)

Honestly, if you want to PVE, it's probably easiest just to host your own game, that way you can also tweak the settings to your liking. You can still invite your friends to play and unlike some similar games (ie, Ark, Conan Exiles), there's no limitation on how far apart you can be from each other or anything like that.

It's been said before, but the caves really make a huge difference.

The east silverlight cave exits in southeast Farbane, which makes east Farbane and mountain plots really good. The mountain plots also have easy access to Ruins of Mortium, and aren't all that far from Dunley.

The west Cursed Forest cave comes out in southwest Farbane, meaning it's pretty easy to get to a home there from the Cursed Forest and east Gloomrot. Mid Gloomrot comes out smack in the middle of Farbane, so that's great.

The only cave favoring Dunley AT ALL is the east Cursed Forest to northwest Dunley. That's pretty much for folks going west from the Ruins of Mortium or Cursed Forest. Makes West Dunley and Silverlight slightly better.

The trip TO somewhere isn't what matters in the midgame. You're using a vampire waygate, then a horse for the return trip.

The trip BACK is what counts, and late game that gets smoothed out a lot by a combination of caves and your vampire horse (with the trip to somewhere pretty much trivialized by bat form).

All in all, I'd say the best castle plot locations for sheer logistics are in mid Farbane. But those castles get settled early, and rivalries tend to pop up a lot down there. What you get from settling further and further north is remoteness. Further to go; less likely to be bothered. And that makes complete sense.
