How do you heal during combat?

On the Bandit king fight and i can't figure out how to get some decent healing or is this one of those games that dont let you heal?

You have your remaining green health, grey health, and black health. Black health cannot be recovered while in combat. Grey health makes up to 25% of your lost health and can be recovered, while black health is the rest.

The game is all about not getting hit. There are limited in combat ways to heal, a few potions, but they explidicty have reduced effectiveness in combat, leech skill or most blood magics have something, an attack after veil also heals if you hit something immediately after. Blood mend also works to a reduced limit in combat as well

You can craft vermin salves or blood potions that will heal a % of your grey health aswell.

There are several ways to heal in combat
- potions
- blood rage for melee, many spells from the bloodline heals you, but sanguine coil is my Nr. 1
- spectral wolf heals you
- Ward of the damned can heal you with each hit absorbed
- life leech weapons
- Brute blood
- healing orbs from passive
- healing orbs from V-blood boss

I think many spells offers a heal with the right juwel.

I went for a leech spell build with Bone explosion and void and wow.. it's awesome. With 100% scholar blood Every-time I use a spell and it hits a target I'm getting like 50-100 health back and it caps over the damage in combat nonsense that potions don't let you do. Highly recommend.

Correction- you can only heal 20% of your lost HP, except viva healing orbs.

Just ran a test where I let a wolf hit me until I saw any black health. I have 722 total health at this moment. I let it hit me and didn't see any black health until I went under 540 (the hit that did it brought me to 531).

Assuming 540 is the limit: 540/722= 74.8% health remaining. All of it grey health.
