V Rising PVP is a griefer's paradise
Just a word of warning to any considering playing pvp in this game. Normal decent people will inevitably quit playing pvp due to the prevalence of ganking and griefing, so all that's left are the griefers who are generally toxic to boot.

I wish the pvp could work like the dev's intended (at contested resources, raiding, etc), but what ends up happening is random ganking where higher level players will attack when you are engaged with a boss or mobs, and when they have no reason to think you have any loot to be gained (people don't carry good loot in a boss fight).

There's also a fair amount of gate-keeping where higher level players will camp a lower level boss or area to prevent other players from progressing.

It just ends up being a stressful exercise in frustration. Don't bother, unless you're into this kind of pvp of course.

So no real solution, as expected.
Solution is start playing on new servers with low players and be fast, what you want more, sorry for someone stomping you because they leveled faster, you are new player dont be suprised players will kill you because they played longer time, what u wanna hear?

If you dont get hit by them you would win, that is solution, or swollow it and go farming so you can be on their lvl.

You are forgetting that people have other stuff to do with their lives rather than play games and rush to be the strongest, as someone who has no bills to pay or any other concerns in mind rather than gaming 24 hours a day to be the strongest player would do.

It's the developers's job to find solutions to make it so that the ones who play for 16 hours a day, will not stop the progress of those who have much less than that. Because that's exactly what happens when you have a real job, then you decide to play a bit, and there are players 30 levels higher than you farming low level players "for fun".

They could start for example by making it so that you cannot attack players who are 10 levels lower, or something like that. And don't tell me this would ruin PVP.

This is a made-up non-issue.

Even so, it has a solution for anyone who wants to avail themselves.

Do something else for 5 minutes and wait for them to get bored.

Edit: Wait, did you just come to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me with 16 hours on record? Get out of here, you haven't even gotten to experience all the grief you can from PvP and being raided by 10 golems at the same time by 4 people 30+ levels over.
Clearly V Rising is the only game to ever feature PvP or griefing. /eyeroll

It's an absolutely different game with different mechanics.

Yes, some things are common among peers, but in other survivals you don't get instantly rolled by 4 people, and in some cases you can even kill all 4 of them without being much more skilled than them, I'm looking at ARK and Rust, for example, but I could talk about many others that have similar mechanics.

V-Rising, however, is a game more focused on an RPG aspect, you don't have a rifle that if you headshot someone you instantly take them out of the fighjt so it's only 3 people now.

Not only this, but all the suggestions I made, are literally just to stop scum-player griefers from, well, griefing.
If you come attack people in the middle of bosses, gank on people with full parties vs 1, or gank people with much lower levels, it's not people who are weak because they don't want to deal with people like you, it's you who are of a weak mindset because you know if you fought in equal terms you would lose, so the only way to make yourfelf feel good is by griefing lower levels and taking the advantage by creating unfair situations that have nothing to do with your skill or planning mindset, but just the fact that the situation is naturally unfavorable to the other person.

The thing is Devs know about it and decided not to introduce any protections. It's their design choice.

During a rather long history with PvP games I can, at least in my experience, say that few PvPr's want to really challenge their skills against players of equal or even higher skill.

As support of this I offer the constant protest against SBMM.

There is little reason to kill a low level player unless they attacked first; they wont have loot you need/want and they wont be a test of your skills (or they shouldn't be at least). It really is just to grief.

But some flock to PvP for rather anti-social reasons which is another entire discussion.

Didn't you mean support for SBMM?

In a game like V Rising you really need a harassment reporting system to keep bullies in check. Otherwise they harass people off servers "for fun" or just threaten with harassment unless you give them X resources. I've seen it happen a more than a couple of times on a solo/duos pvp server. I can only guess it gets worse in merciless.
We can't go around the fact that zoomers use word of mouth a lot more than millennials and boomers, so when word gets around people just don't want to play online.

@GR4V3MIST4K3 Actually I meant that SBMM tends to be protested against by many, many PvPrs who don't want to face players of their own skill level (or slightly better). You will often hear the excuse 'I don't want every match to be a sweat'.

They want to roll the other side, not fight it.

Some people will find ways to be toxic even about playing Stardew Valley.

Reminds me of the Carrion Fields.

This is why I'm glad they added a private game option.
You get to experience the whole game, without it being a huge exercise in frustration.
