I will assume that your weapon is repaired because it says 'upgrade'. You did this using the required materials at the ancestral forge that Suzaku speaks of, and you can do the same for any other Ancestral weapon (the name is randomly generated, as are the weapon's stats and element).
Dark Silver comes a good bit later in the game, you need to kill the final boss of Act 3, iirc. It's an upgrade from ancestral weapons, which is why you can use them to raise the ancestral weapon's level so you don't have to get rid of it.
Once you unlock Dark Silver and the required station to make the weapons, you create the weapon and then bring it and your ancestral weapon to the Ancestral forge, put the Dark Silver weapon required inside and right click the ancestral weapon so that you're using it as the base, and upgrade as if you were 'repairing' it.
You can do the same once more later on using Sanguine weapons, another type you get to make later.
