Going after Octavian with a Blood Build
I beat Octavian on Brutal today, but he was so stupidly easy because I used the shield/shield/AoD+greatsword method. It irritated me so much that I genuinely don't count that as a win. So now I'm going after beating him with a Blood/leech build. It's going about as well as expected.

Does anybody have any tidbits or tips for this kind of build in mid-game?

Leech just consistently feels insufficient. Which I'm sure is by design.

Having high level Brute blood seems to make it semi-viable to sustain high HP while fighting trash mobs, but I don't think this works as well when fighting bosses. I do really like the Blood Rage + Brute combo, though. Also the Static veil, for the extra attack speed. (though I really can't stand not using the purple chaos veil)

If you don't want to use the greatsword or shielding abilities, you'll need some other form of evasion, I feel. Maybe Rogue blood for the reduced CD on your veil, combined with well-timed chaos veils, might be enough mobility to stay alive.

He's quite a hard fight though. Especially since it sounds like you're going in solo.

I'll probably keep the GS, cause it's fun. I hit a point where I was getting him into the ~25% range, but it was like beating my head against a wall. So I took a break.

The big thing is that I can't survive three of his "Old Tricks." The Leech gets me back almost to full after the first. Problem being that he uses it more frequently after the first one. So I do my best to avoid it without cheese, but I still just eat too much damage.

I was actually thinking Veil of Bones to spread some of his attacks and maybe leave more room for Leech to work.
