"Is there a way to make it easier to change stair types? Just by trying to dismantle or recycle it, it keeps saying a pillar or wall is preventing the dismantle / recycle option from happening. I nearly knocked out the entire two floors of the corner of the castle and it still says the same as before, so I decided to put everything back the way it was.
As similar to the Ctrl color changer option on some models, it would be nice but for the stairs. Instead of having to wipe out entire sections of the castle."
We can in-place replace floors, walls, pillars etc.
Stairs need to allow the same. Even if it costs a few extra resources as a penalty, just let us pick a stair, and change it in-place. Having to tear apart multiple floors just to switch out staircases is infuriating.
This function of gluing to the wall is wildly annoying, which sometimes kills my desire to build a castle above the first floor))
You "only" need to remove the walls and pillars that are only connected to the stairs and not to any other floors, on both the bottom and the top level of the staircase. Effectively it is providing 2 or 3 floors on the bottom level and 2 or 3 invisible floors on the top level, and removing it removes those floors. (Because of this, they should absolutely make it so you can connect invisible floors to the sides of the staircase.)
I'm not really sure what the best way of solving this would be. Replacing both the top and bottom layers of the stair with generic floor tiles when it is removed?
The process for removing stairs is a mess.
Stairs cannot be damaged and broken, making them excellent for PvP - too excellent. Stunlock had to limit certain stair placements due to people using them to lock bases completely from being raided.
Sure we won't be able to get to upper (or lower, if you remove it from above) till we put it back. It can even be 'temporary', just so that we can move it easier.

It would have to use something like the castle relocation system, allowing you to do a "draft" that is finalized after you're done fiddling, because allowing impossible to reach floors is a big no no for PvP.
Meh, if PvP player is a problem, just enable this on PvE.
Not like this is new feature, simply disable some checks that already exist based on server type.
