Is spellpower underwhelming?
I'm playing co-op, on brutal, were at the end of act 2, but every spell we get is very weak, we have the highest spellpower we can get at this point in the game and it still feels very weak to use spells, compared to just using your weapon

I'm not going to go into great detail that some may respond. But you are playing on brutal, so any damage output is going to be reduced. You will also want to use armour and jewelry types that support spells. And you can equip jewels in the spell slots to increase damage and add attributes.

And you also have to consider what combos can be used. Use multiple spells and melee attacks all at once. One spell might benefit you by knocking back an enemy and stunning them, while you can use another spell or attack. Experiment and play around with each spell and weapon. And get used to using more than one spell while melee attacking.

There are also potions and blood you can drink to increase spell damage. Scholar blood supports spells. And the better the quality of the blood you drink, the more the effects are increased.

Example ( Scholar Blood ) :
1% Blood Quality => 10% Increased Spell Power
30% Blood Quality => 13% Increased Spell Power
50% Blood Quality => 15% Increased Spell Power
99% Blood Quality => 20% Increased Spell Power
100% Blood Quality => 25% Increased Spell Power (final bonus - effect boosted by 25%)

spells do seem rather weak, its like they made the game almost balanced for pvp but time consuming against pve

understand the game first guys. Without scholar blood your main dps is from your weapons. Even without scholar, the right spells make a huge difference for damage. For example static + wep abilities hitting many times.

Spells are pretty strong imo, but it’s also true that scholar blood plays a main role in playing a spellcaster.

Hopefully we’ll get some balance with the next patch ( I dream for melee dmg lowered unless the right blood is used, making rogue blood the main dps choice ).
Yes. Only few spell slots to even have access to abilities. The spells itself are very copy-paste and boring.
Weapons can help improve the spells. Spell leech, spell cooldown, spell power, spell crit and crit damage. Gee, lots of enchants for spells for weapons there stunlock.
