That they don't take damage from sunlight is just basic game balancing so they don't have to try and script the AI smart enough to avoid sunlight. Would otherwise make them rather easy to kill if you can just kite them into sunlit areas. Or awkward situations where they wander off into sunlight and die while you're away/offline..
In methodical lore vampires biting humanoids for instance turns them into vampires sure. In v rising they're charmed so it's not the samething.
But you give the vampire kiss every one who got it sleeps and wake up a vampire lol
obviously this is not reflected in the gameplay and its more a lore thing.
