Can't demolish stairs

So i tried to move some of my stairs round and i got the message ''can't break path to ground.'' So i made some temporary stairs which i intended to remove when i had moved the stairs. Now after i did that i went to remove the temporary stairs however once again i got the message ''can't break path to ground.'' I have tried almost completely removing the floor the stairs were going to but that didn't help. Any help removing the temp stairs would be appreciated.

I did sadly try removing the walls and still the same error message

if you remove the stair, are there any tiles that will have no connection and be isolated.

Thats the thing i have removed any floors on the top floor that connected to the temporary stair and still cannot remove it

Remove all walls and pillars attached to the staircase you are taking out. The temp stairs have to have floor attached to the second floor to be counted as a stare case. Get all that done and try to remove stairs. If it doesn't work, tell me why it is not allowing it now (there are 4 or 5 possible things to stop the stairs from coming down). I know. It is a pain in the a$$ to remove stairs.

This is a known issue and even has a feature request you can vote up in hopes for them to fix it during a major update. Once you put down stairs, you won't be able to change stair types or demolish the stairs because it always says something is preventing the demolish process from continuing. You would literally have to demolish a portion of your castle for it work.
