This is not a live service or an ever-evolving game. And it doesn't have seasons or events. It's incomplete and in an early access state. It is a great game but, in my opinion, it's not worth it till it's completed.
Although.
I'd say the game was "Meant" to be played with multiple groups on a server in competition with each other, it truly is designed as PvPvE.
It kinda ties into what Xero says above me, in that the game was designed around occasional wipes to reset servers and give everyone a fighting chance at the competition.
I disagree that it is incomplete, though, it is very unfortunate for some who lost their single player saves with update 1.1 It's a sad fact that the devs priority is the official servers (with regular wipes) so they don't tend to consider the people who only play it solo.
I play mostly solo, sometimes with friends, in case you are wondering how to set a solo server this is a very good starting point:
Game Settings
Items
Teleport Bound Items - remove the tick to teleport with items
Blood-Bound Equipment - keep it on so you don' lose weapons and armour on death
Items
Inventory Stacks Multiplier - 3, max
Loot Multiplier - 1 or 2
Servant Hunt Multiplier - 3, max
Material Yield Multiplier - 1.5 or 2
Blood Essence Multiplier - 1 or 2, I keep it at 1
Equipment
Durability Loss Multiplier - 0
Resource Yield Multiplier - 1.5 or 2, I keep it same as Material Yield
Traders
Stock Multiplier - 2 or 3, it helps as you are solo
Building
Decay Rate Multiplier - 0
Blood Essence Drain Rate - 0.25, min
Castle Heart Limitation - 5
Castle Relocation Cooldown - 0
Castle Height Limit - 6
Territory Tile Limit - 100, 200, 400, 600, 800 in that order from level 1 to 5
Servant Limit - 6, 9, 12, 16, 20 same as above
Vermin Next Limit - 20
Prison Cell Limit - 50
Stygian Circle - 4
Throne of Darkness - 4
Crafting & Building
Crafting Rate - 4 or 6, things may feel fast at first but higher level stuff are really slow to craft
Refinement Rate - 4 or 6
Servant Convert Rate - 6
Hey, I think it would be more polite to just mention this as general information to inform a possible buyer, instead of throwing mud for the sake of it. You have personally decided that V Rising is incomplete and early access, stop trying to force feed others your opinion.
"Just for your information, whenever this game has a major update the older saves become incompatible. If this is a no-go for you, you shouldn't buy it."
Do that instead and maybe more people would be keen to listen to you.
at this point I'm thinking he is just after jester awards as that's all he is..
There's some crazy people here that like this, if you like to do the same things over and over again and has nothing else to do so yes the game was fun for a good amount of time and now it's a good time to begin, but go all the way to end because if you return later your save will be gone
Sure, but that's also my point. They provide the correct information but frames it with their own opinion and distaste of the devs practices. It's seriously rude and throws any potential of sympathy for their negative experience out the window and is in bad taste when recommending something to someone else or not.
It's like if I went into a music equipment store to buy this electric guitar I've had my eyes on, and the store clerk yells at me about how ♥♥♥♥ that guitar is and that the makers of it should die and still expecting I would respect their opinion about guitars after that point.
It's selfish, rude and ridiculous, as multiple posts trying to hype or converse positively about the new patch gets hijacked by these people for them to throw their hate and bile around. Move on and let the rest of us converse about ANYTHING ELSE but incompatible saves, for at least just 5 minutes.
And that is an issue... because of what?
I've cleared the game nearly complete in the past... dropped it for a long time and now pick it back up and start over anyways.
No issue with a "wipe" (which is incorrect anyways, as my old save file is there and I can play it just fine. Only the new content is not in...)
So Solo players who play the game for a while and when there is nothing left to do? Drop it until 1-2 major patches and start over again. Early game can be rushed easy (server settings for example give you a start on lvl 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 - maybe even higher? or with abysmal high drop and farm rates) and then you are in the new content asap while catching up to the mechanics again.
I really enjoy this so far. Second round I play and its lots of fun.
