Will The New Update Force A New Game?
Funny how things work, I was just ready to come back to this game. I keep seeing how the new DLC will force people to start from scratch but if I don't plan on getting the new DLC, will the update force you to start over or is that just for the new DLC owners?

Basically, if I don't plan on getting the new DLC, am I safe to start a new game today?

The upcoming update is a major update. Not a DLC.

The game is incomplete as they are adding new areas, enemies and game mechanics with each major update. This will be their third major update that we all paid for since early access.

Updates :
1.) Gloomrot
2.) Official 1.0 Release
3.) Planned But Not Defined - Updated

Three Planned Updates :

You'll still be able to play your old save by reverting to a previous version but in order to play the new content update, you'll have to start over.

Play Old Incompatible Saves :
Right-Click V Rising > Properties > Betas > Beta Participation > Select Game Version

How lame! Explains why so many people are pissed off.

I am sorry for your loss. I am also upset.

No one should have to go through this during a full release. They do have server settings you can play with, but I never touch them. I wanted to play default brutal and complete it.

These settings can help the player advance in the game quickly.

Server Settings :
Start Game > Load Game > Under Local Saves - Select Your Server Name >
Edit Settings
I'm so confused... haven't played this game in years yet my old game is still there and I was actually capable to load into it and it works without changing any beta settings.

According to one of the moderators in the official discord server, there's a possibility your current save will still be usable with the new patch. You won't be able to play the new content with that save, but you'll be able to access it. (Allegedly)
Yeah new playthrough
yup, which killed my desire to restart a new game right now because ill just be redoing it again in less then a month so gonna wait for update then play again. (even though i really do wanna play just cant force myself to do it with a looming restart because ill want the new stuff asap)

wait, if the update comes out? i have to restart from srcatch? and cant use my old savegame where i faremd 100s of hours?
Yes. At least I only have 7 hours in the game so far. Really had the itch to play it but by the time the update comes out, with over 900 games in my library, i'll probably not remember about it until the another big update. lol

No one really knows. After this update? No idea. Supposed to be another dev blog coming up soon.

There's like 5 babies who are mad.. and the vast majority of us don't care and are even looking forward to the wipe.

If "SO MANY" people REALLY cared they would not be sitting at an 88% approval rating.. lol.

Oh come on lets get real two weekend's worth of play will be enough for most casual players to complete a new run if you use the merchants to farm gear recipes&potions... and i'm not even going to bother saying much about the ones that can no life it and speed run it from start to finish in a single 3-6hour session.

PS: for those complaining: you got server settings so use them(speed up crafting times and the amount of loot dropped by slain enemies) to remove the grind or if you really can't be arsed just start yourself in level 80 gear, what ever floats your boat...

Not everyone touches these settings. It's no different than typing in console commands and using cheats. Got to love those who mod or use server settings and showcase their 100% achievement they didn't earn by default.

You'd be editing the default game mode for each difficulty. There are reasons why achievements exist. For the challenge, accomplish what others may not have, for bragging rights and to take up even more of people's time. You don't go into a game to try to play the hardest difficulty and edit the game to your liking.
