Singleplayer New start after 1.1?
Greetings,
My friends and i want to start a new playthrough - we played only on Servers until now - but we want to start on a singleplayer safe this time. I heard you need to start new after big Updates for Server at least. Is this also the same on singleplayer? I would love to start now but i dont want to start a new safe when 1.1 comes out.

The game is incomplete and requires a restart for even single player / solo play due to map and game mechanic changes. Your best bet is to wait for the game to be completed or try enjoying the game when the major update is released on April 28th.

Although your progress, time and effort will be for nothing but to pass the time until the game is completed.

You'll still be able to play your old save by reverting to a previous version but in order to play the new content update, you'll have to start over.

I hope you don't think I'm picking a fight by saying this, but I wouldn't say the game is incomplete. I agree that with a game that to a huge part is about building your castle in your own created world, that sunk cost retention(no, not fallacy in this case) and self-posterity should be a thing. But the game is complete since 1.0, everything after that is additional content like the old school expansion discs and the like.

So recommending other people that might not share your feelings about it all to wait for some sort of completeness that you have decided upon yourself, just feels a bit unnecessary. Again I promise I'm not picking a fight, just consider what I say as I know how hurt you were and probably still are for losing out on 300+ hours of your playthrough and progress.

Apart from that, a straight and correct answer from Xero to you OP. You cannot bring 1.1 patch content into a 1.0 world/save/server.

The moderator told everyone during the 1.0 release that incompatible saves were no longer an issue. I have never played an expansion that causes you to start over. The game was released during its second major update with a third major update in mind - this update. The devs then told me that saves will continue to be incompatible with the next major updates. This isn't a live service game. It's incomplete.

No offense taken. And I hope you don't take it the wrong way either. I've been around since EA days, when incompatible saves were to be expected. The mods and developers lied to us all and refuse to warn players their saves will be incompatible with each major update unless you ask them personally in discord.

Best comment of ever. Well done!

+1
So, to be clear, the content from 1.1 will not be playable in the 1.0 save I’ve been playing with my friends? We’d have to start a new game?

Correct. They did announced this months ago. It's been the same way with their last 2 major updates each being roughly a year apart.
