Worth.
PvP is OPTIONAL.
Multiplayer is OPTIONAL.
It's a singleplayer game with OPTIONAL content.
It's the only way I can rationalise why they do that. Disdain for what you like... and reasonably expect.
These people don't care if the game does well in the long run because, to them, it's a single-player game.
1) Warframe + starwar
2) Dark Souls
3) A negative review for Hellriders
4) Monster Hunter World and Hellriders
None of these guys main DayZ or Rust, or anything like that.
See? Aesthetics is the truth.
You are, you like, you want.
Socrates pulled the greatest lie on us boys, it still persists to this day.
He made us think that we can debate tastes.
I know what I know.
For example, Barney 64 advertised this like a WoW ganking mini game/survival PVP.
In fact, it doesn't even mention PvP in the decription, saying:
"Traverse the world with vampire comrades or hunt solo as you pillage villages, raid bandits, and delve into the domains of supernatural beasts."
No idea who a "Barney 64" is.
First of all, it's not even an MMO, so comparing it to WoW makes absolutely NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SENSE.
Second, the game itself states very clearly that the main focus is coop PvE, singleplayer second, PvP slapped on third.
However, with the early access launch they probably figured that the game did function more like a linear RPG. Instead of putting in tons of work to expand the games sandbox PvP features, it probably became evident it would be easier to change marketing and design towards the PvE crowd. Afterward, they did the typical PvE development: add new biomes, add new bosses, expand loot diversity with "legendary" gear and reworked skilled trees, add sitting in chairs and multi-story buildings, and finally add a final boss. Bing-bang-boom, another typical RPG in typical RPG form. Meanwile, PvPers got duped with a one-time playthrough single-player game.
Nothing new really. When a game shows success, developers usually never take risks at that point. They do as Ubisoft does with all their games: make the most generic and safe game they possibly can.
It's disappointing for the PvP crowd because most open-world PvPvE games with really good animations, art, and overall quality; and with progression and focus around PvP (not as an option, but as the game's purpose) seems to be non-existent. Most PvP games like this that I'm aware of in the open-world survival genre are jank, broke, lack content, are exploitable, and whatever else low budget crap quality features that end up making the game fundamentally bad regardless of it being a PvP game (which some would try to say is the reason the game's bad).
Any game that puts effort into PvE elements of the game seems to draw the same PvE crowd and feedback that changes the direction of the game and is usually more convenient to develop in that direction for the developers anyway. Only games with total garbage PvE, where players has to mostly make their own content, ends up having a chance to be PvP oriented. However, when that happens the game is a generic low budget sandbox with no effort put into PvE as a progression driving objective to give PvP purpose outside of roaming around bored looking for PvP, which basically makes match-based PvP games a better option.
It's the same process every time: PvPers buy the game, the game changes direction, and the PvEers are happy with yet another disposable and generic game. The people that say they can play this game for PvE more than once are on the spectrum, imo. It's like watching the same movie over and over; no clue how anyone can do it. I guess they do things like try to beat every boss without dying once or speed-running it for the extra challenge? I guess other PvE games are so bad that they can't think of anything else to play?
The people that can play through the same game content multiple times without PvP contest are usually the hard core "few" that linger in a game after most everyone else has left to do other things and forget the game even exists. They are the ones that build bases over and over in games like Sons of the Forest, which barely has any content at all. It's the type of thing that sounds about as entertaining as watching paint dry or grass grow. I'll never understand it. Must be a good life, though, to be that easily entertained: literally never get bored.
This guy does one video a monthy or so and did a video of V Rising two years ago when it was not even in EA. He ganked and trolled other players who probably just wanted to get the most of the limited time during beta period.
It was already ridiculous to read the same posts naming this YTer several times but after watching his video I am just sad I wasted my time for looking it up.
Regarding OP topic...
The purpose of PvP is to fight other player and this is possible. What else is needed? Motivation?
Fight for resources, rifts, shards, castle locations
Raid other player's castle if they hide shards there
There are lots of games that don't even motivate for PvP and people love it. Like the DeathMatch mode in FPS games, racing games or PvP in Souls games.
This does not work out on your server?! What about looking for a server with people fitting your playstyle?!
2. Games like legend of zelda, mario, fire emblem...etc were games you just played, beat, and finished. The were complete games. You dint need constant updates. It is released as a full game and you play it.
3. There is notging wrong with complete, 1 and done games. They can be amazing. Not every game has to nor should be constantly updating.
4. I literally googled "barney64" and the channel and twitter popped up right away. You dont need chatgpt to do a basic af google search. This is why people are hating on ai. You got brainrot individuals whole cant type a few words and wants ai to do it for them. Just type "barney64 wow" and youll for sure get it even with misspelling. Use your brain fam
If you PVP you can have a sort of endgame s as d replayabilty. If you PVE, consider this game as a 20hours story and nothing more.
AGAIN, NOT THE RESULT I GET.

For the THIRD time, in MY region, Google does not show it.
That was why, FOR THE THIRD TIME, I had to use ChatGPT.
Because, FOR THE THIRD TIME, Google does not work the same in every region.
So, FOR THE THIRD TIME, THIS https://i.imgur.com/6BUunGJ.png is the result I got on Google. Which is why, FOR THE THIRD TIME, I used ChatGPT and then got the real source.
Jesus, none of you toddlers here are able to read. Absolutely staggering.
Hating on AI, when ChatGPT literally is the only thing that works here.
Hilarious that you're the one talking about "brainrot", when you are completely unable to read and comprehend what I've said three ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times.
