about 1/3rd of the bosses are horrendously bad
Bosses like the spider and lord styx are just really poorly designed artificially difficult crap fights

"oooh add a ton of adds, this is hard now"

Love the game but some of these boss fights massively sour the experience

Agreed on some bosses.

Some of the new brutal "mechanics" are just, here's the exact same boss except now there's adds, enjoy! Looking at you, Winged Horror. It feels lazy.

Counterpoint, I thought Adam was awesome on both normal and Brutal. He is a perfect example of how to make a boss more challenging without just lazily spawning adds.

I don't understand this complaint every time it pops up in any game. Additional enemies midfight is a classic challenge that almost every action game makes use of at some point. Even Dark Souls/Elden Ring has multi-boss "gank" fights or bosses that summon.

Also all difficulty is artificial. There's no organic spring difficulty that crunchy devs draw from. It's all made up.

What did you think a Spider Queen was going to do? Of course it's a heavily add focused boss fight. If you don't deal with them, you get overwhelmed. That doesn't make it a bad boss, it just sounds to me like you struggle against multiple targets.

There isn't a single multi-target fight in this game that is anywhere near as obnoxious as something like the twin Gargoyles in Elden Ring.

did you get to Adam already ? that the most bs fight ever in a game like this, whoever made that arena and boss design truly wanted to make people just alt-f4 from their game

I think the problem with add summoning is just like. They're far too bulky for adds at times, unless you've kitted out into some hyper-damaging setup. With Ungora I remember the spiders taking concentrated efforts to kill, all while each one was spewing projectiles and Ungora was doing the same herself.

It really discourages fighting bosses with more than one person since that just means way more tanky damage sponges that'll only add to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The bosses are pretty much the only part I don't like.

Necro builds with skele's, knights and army of the dead for the adds.

I love the part where you forgot to explain how this is anything but a skill issue.
Maybe it's because I'm playing with a build focused on healing on hit and on kills, but usually adds tend to make the fights easier for me, unless they're annoying to fight such as the Cursed Smith's weapons that float around instead of chasing me.

some of these complaints i don't get at all. I just beat spider on solo brutal and it was a one shot, super simple.

i didn't get to styx yet to try.

It's a spider queen...what did you expect?

For Styx tho, yeah his summon doesn't make sense at all.
Good thing he only do it once tho.

I a mid 50's now, and enjoyed all bosses fight. Some are harder, other are easier ... but well balanced in general.

I double dare you to go to a Magic the Gathering forum and say that. :steamhappy:

uterly disagree.

adam is as boring as it gets.

if you think adding adds is bad, wait till you get bored of learning a boss patterns.

exact same in the end, you know how to deal with it, it therefore become boring.

both adding ads and making a boss a knowledge check are the same issue on the long run. predictable behavior from the AI.

the only difference is that people spend more time grinding their way out of the problem.

and i'm kind with adamn, the moment you duo or trio/squad him, he become utterly pointless since you can just assign someone on the electric field.

i'd say the whole bosses design are crap, but i won't hold it to the devs, clearly they tried a mix of pvp and pve in their game, and that's always a recipe for disaster, quality speaking of course.
