Trying to copy save files

Hello,

My partner and I were both playing a game that he hosted from his computer. We found the save files on his computer and copied them (found them using "go to directory" when loading the game. Put them in the same location on my computer (I made a save file so I could use "go to directory"). We copied the entire folder to make sure we had everything we might need.

I've verified the files with Steam, but to no avail.

We're just looking to transfer them as we've already put it quite a few hours already, and I want to be able to play while he plays a different game on his computer. So we can't really just run it off his in the background.

At the moment, the best I can come up with is Steam sharing his library to a different laptop and using that to run it in the background...

It'd be really helpful if multiplayer games could be saved and launched from either players' device somehow.
