Pvp question and builds

So my base got raided for the first time and it was fine but also confusing
it was a 2v2, me and my buddy vs 2 of them they didn't make it far in because of out big brain strat of making fake loot rooms and having 2 fake bases

but one thing I don't understand is how they kept almost instant killing us, we are the same level (91 max) but they barely took any damage on hit and even in a 1v1 It took only a few seconds for them to kill us, we thought them before around level 60 and could beat them back then

what am i doing wrong?
and does anyone know what pvp builds are good, we have been basically using just, blood rage, blood counter, veil of blood , greatswords as out main weapon with 100% warrior blood, dracula grim set
so very melee focused builds
