I mean everyone cant all be the same "right" not everyone out there is gonna stomp thru in a week im sure
A. cant pause the game for any reason
B. I am always online when playing
Also you can skip resetting your game after a big update, but this can lead to bugs/glitches.
The only servers with mandatory wipes are official ones.
I mean we can debate what "single player" really means, but yes it is effectively always online single player. Not ideal, I agree, but it's *kinda* nice that you can get your friends to drop in at any time if you want.
Interesting I had no idea this should be explained somewhere so people know lol
Also just my 2 cents it should default to a offline single player server if thats what your setting up for not the other way around .....just my thought
A: Jeremy Bearson — Yup! It'll involve map changes and other deeper changes that require a new map to take effect, so if you want to play on the new stuff you need to update and generate a new map.
It is unacceptable for a game out of early access. Hopefully, this will be their last major update. They had three planned major updates since EA. This would make it the third.
Updates :
1.) Gloomrot
2.) Official 1.0 Release
3.) Planned But Not Defined - Updated
Three Planned Updates :

I lost 300+ hours. When I asked discussions when it was going to be safe to play due to incompatible saves, I was told about the 1.0 release by a V Rising moderator who marked his post as the answer to my topic discussion. I started a new game during the official release.

It's a great game. They just need to get it together.
You'll still be able to play your old save by reverting to a previous version but in order to play the new content update, you'll have to start over.
Play Old Incompatible Saves :
Right-Click V Rising > Properties > Betas > Beta Participation > Select Game Version
The Cloud And Local Saves Can Be Found :
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\
( copy/paste that line in your file explorer and hit enter )
Locate Stunlock Studios Folder > Copy & Paste Stunlock Studio Folder To A Safe Location
Just ignore Yumeko, a known PVP troll.
While Offline ( Not Connected To The Internet ) :
Go In Offline Mode With Steam > Start Game > Click Load Game >
Click On Game Or World Name > Click LAN Server > Click Host Game
When playing with a friend over the internet, LAN should not be selected.
thank you for this post. very informative. i know about old saves but this isnt "7 years to early access" so i am not interresting it playing outdated saves on this game. but your post gave an answer to my question.
so this MIGHT be the last wipe. or not....
like if they wanna keep updateing like this they should start changing thier map generation to allow for changes retroactively really. that new update content is something i expected to see IN early access. not OUT of it.
Unless you're someone like me who always plays on the hardest difficulty possible in games and never use console commands, modify default settings, mod or cheat.
