V Rising is more intimate in its combat, focusing on using a combination of normal attacks, weapon-specific abilities, and spells to deal with enemies on a singular or small group engagements. Survival is based on smart movements or use of abilities to negate incoming attacks rather than tanking through them with potions.
As a survival-crafting game, you'll also spend a large amount of time gathering resources, refining them, crafting your weapons and armor, and building and decorating a castle in which all of this is done. Very little gear is dropped from enemies.
The world is static and limited, so there's only so much space for players to make their homes, so there are many servers so players can find one that isn't so full that there's nowhere to stake their claim. There's also plenty of server options to choose from, like those with increased difficulty, increased loot and resource drop rates, PvP options, and more. You can also just play on your own private server if you prefer a solo experience where you're in control of all options.
It's actually nothing like a diablo style game, in spite of it sharing the same player perspective. Even the way it handles is nothing like diablo, let alone game systems.
I'd give it a try.
What makes V Rising different from a Diablo-style A/RPG?
In V Rising when you've finally grinded your way to a BOSS and begin fighting there is a chance that a Second, usually higher level boss, will show up and SURPRISE ... good luck surviving.
In V Rising you'll not only be fighting mobs in front of you, but, you'll be constantly whirling around to see what's behind you, because any second another group of mobs will show up and out-number you. Good Luck surviving.
In V Rising you'll encounter homing flaming arrows, Shot by suicidal archers who don't mind standing in a sea of fire just to tag you with one more arrow.
My personal favorite aspect of V Rising are the Pistols with a shorter range than arrows.
If you play V Rising you will soon discover all these SHENANIGANS and more and log out each day wondering ... do these Devs even play their own game??? Are these Devs aware of the ... like ... anything???
Let's cross our fingers the next one is permanent. Good lord. I've been permabanned from forums for far less.
This was particularly funny. Yes, actually, early blackpowder firearms did have shorter range than bows. Mature technology outperforms earliest iterations of a new technology in many areas - go figure.
I've never been banned from the V Rising forums.
Why would they ban me, though?
I'm not having any arguments with anyone. I'm not participating in any Flame Wars.
I get so few responses from anyone on these forums, I don't even think anyone knows what the word "SHENANIGANS" means.
And, since some of you are keeping tabs on me, I "returned" to V Rising because of the Dev Blog that promised some significant changes to the game. I plan to see if any of these "changes" help with the SHENANIGANS.
people are entitled to their opinions
Individuals are not entitled to opinions which are deliberately counterfactual and intended to poison the discussion environment. That's what bans are for.
