Do we actually get an army of darkness?
Or is it just you and solo sadness for your base with no npcs to command?

You can imprison and convert humanoid enemies, but they act as a defensive force for your castle for PvP, or you can send them on missions to gather resources. They don't join you in your conquests outside your territory.

If you lean into unholy spells, you can create short-term undead to fight alongside you.
From your response I guess they don't actually do anything in your base if you're not in pvp, and that there are no pve siege events on your base?

Thanks for the info.

Correct.
You can send them on missions, but there isn't REALLY a summoner gameplay style at the moment. Summons do exist, but you won't tend to get much of your damage from them, and they die in seconds after being summoned. They're more a protective element, like Mobs in a MOBA, used to distract enemies.

That doesn't mean they're useless, but I WAS hoping for more myself. Still, fun game overall.

Like others have said, you can send them on missions to recover resources for you. I.e. you lose them for up to 23h and once that timer runs down they come back with an inventory full of junk from whatever mission you sent them on.

But no, currently there isn't a whole lot for them to do besides act as fun little castle pets. I personally enjoy collecting a roster of respectably high level servants like pokey mans, but that might not be for everyone.

And if you don't count them helping you take down summons from the vermin nest, which can be fun when all your 20 servants pile into the room and start nuking the ♥♥♥♥ out of the two dozen mutant spiders or whatever they are that you've spawned. Or the graveyard.

Well... they can keep a creature/npc wounded and in place for you to feed on if there is an opening in your outer wall. I have started game or come home from a hunt to find a guard in a Mexican stand-off with a very wounded wolf or hunter for me to drink or kill when I got there. It doesn't happen often, but I have seen it a number or times.
It would be cool if there was a mechanic where villagers come to attack your castle like a mob every so and so days.
