Battlerite has taught me a lot about Stunlock Studios
They hype it up, try to get you in on a cheap entry fee ( 19,99€ EA ) in addition to that they already announced 2 DLCs ( One for 29,99€ and the other one for 9,99€ ) - Imagine releasing DLCs at the same time as your Early Access product.

In the next few weeks and months you wont see much changes, except for new DLCs being introduced/sold. Because you hyped this game and want it to succeed, you provide tons of feedback and bug reports, but the developers wont care at all and will just ignore it.

When the player count starts to drop, because of no transparency and no community interaction, they blame it on the game itself or the playerbase. They might then try to end the Early Access phase, to generate a new hype wave for more easy money. ( Even if the game is not ready for release, or hasnt received any fundamental changes, they will still use the release hype wave to gain some momentum/money again )

At the end they re-release the game with a complete change to the initial thought on the game, as a standalone client, which you have to purchase again, resulting in even less people playing the original game.

You dont have to trust me on this one, its just a warning regarding Stunlock Studios. If you want to make the expierience yourself, youre good to go, go for it and have some fun. But dont come here in a few weeks/months and cry for a refund.

There are already a few anti-SLS conspiracy threads. Yours is redundant. I got my money's worth out of Battlerite and don't hold any ill will toward the studio for its playerbase falling off.

Just cost me $65 to gas car. $20 is a joke for many hours of gameplay. People buying a game these days and expecting endless entertainment is a bit much. Valheim was $20 at launch I think and I put over 500 hours into it. Sounds like a damn good deal.

Honestly, my only worry with this game is that it will be good on launch and it will be made bad later.
Kinda like EVE Online and many other games like WoW that got worse over time.
I know those two are mmos, it's just the two games in general that come to mind at this moment.
There are a lot of games that i bought and turned into trash over a length of time.

Battlerite had a low playerbase for years. What exactly do you expect them to do for money?
SmolAnubis 14/mai./2022 às 11:31
dude i'm as sad as you are that battlerite shut down, but it's no fault of the devs
game just didn't have a playerbase and htey had to move on

they had a huge playerbase. i think even 40k peak. they maintained around 10-20k when they abandoned the game.

Well, thanks for your opinion. Your point may have come across better if you spelled -Taught- correctly in the title. If someone can't take the opportunity to spell correctly, then trusting their input or the facts in their statement tends to be rather difficult.

The "DLC" Is just a founders edition skin set. There is no content that was cut for the "DLC". They should just label it a founders edition.

You can literally look at the stats on SteamChart, it has 200-400 for the past two years.

They only had 10k+ players for two months after going free to play in 2017, 5 years ago.

Why on earth would they not make another game after so long.

For anyone worrying about a 20 dollar game not lasting them months should probably not be playing games. Go get a job. Basically the cost of a pizza. Who cares about cosmetic DLC. Game devs are businessmen. Dont like it then dont buy it. Simple. Never played Battlerite but it was free to play... Come on now.

People coming here to defend Battlerite when this man is straight up spitting facts.

Battlerite was dumped for battlerite royale when that was in it's hype. Then that flopped and they just meshed the item system into regular Battlerite cuz that's all they had. And guess what? That ruined the game for my group of friends.

THe hole no transparency, abandoning games and milking the playerbase? 100% true. Read up on Bloodline Champions if you don't believe me: costed like a $100 to own all champions and that died SOOO much quicker and quieter than Battlerite.

I'm still gonna buy V RIsing: I like Stunlock's gameplay and the theme is fun. I expect NOTHING out of it though, thinking im just gonna have a fun trip day or something.

Pretty much this. I don't really see anybody making legitimate arguments against OP's post just strawman/"nice opinion" memes lol.
