Depending on the biome you are in- some trees & minerals require higher tier weapons to damage i believe- cant mine iron with out merciless copper tools & so on. May need a stronger weapon if it says skill too low- OR it may not be removable if you dont see any message when hitting it

you can beat it with copper weapons if your careful otherwise it can be a nice little guardian if you lead something into your base

Just build walls around your stuff to keep the treant out until you can deal with it. Like Deku said, it will actually kill stuff that wander too close to it and since they are relatively slow to react, you can just pick it up and go back inside before they have a chance to attack you. You'll be able to deal with it a bit later.

When its dead and if you don't want to deal with it anymore, make sure to clean your plot and place floors on it to prevent respawn.

Depending on how you look at it, having a treant or stone golem near your castle can be annoying or helpful. In the last game, I had a treant enemy around my castle area. It was annoying at first, but when I would come back from going out on adventures, I would find a bunch of resources left over from the aftermath it caused.

So it's a love / hate relationship with a respect of territory. You can remove them from the property by placing flooring over their area they like to retreat to and re-spawn.

You can also just Build another castle somewhere else with Castle Relocation. Build walls to block it out or just Kill with range.

It's Got a GIANT tell what it's wind up attack is gonna do so easy to avoid that. The Magic fingers glow means it's gonna root you so just Dash through it and it's attack will be null and void.

I just keep it outside with walls and place my entrance out of the aggro. You'll be able to deal with it before you actually need to use all your plot anyway.
