The servers you join are each their own "world," and it would be incredibly unfair to have some people join a fresh server with full research and abilities. This is also why the game makes it so easy and quick to get from 0-81.
I think you're under the mistaken assumption that your characters progress is meant to be permanent?
Each game game is no different to playing a game of CS:GO. Jumping on a server and complaining "Oh but I had $16000 and an AK on the last server, why can't I keep it for the first round?!" would be pretty dumb.
If you want to make a fancy castle and the like, do it on a private game. Your characters progress is just that, your characters.
Whenever I want to play I need her laptop and game to be turned on.
We may set up a dedicated server on my second laptop so her personal server is not permanently needed since my laptop stays at home all the time. Still a pain in the ass when you just want to play quickly for once.
So YES we really want this feature.
If you are scared about imbalanced games: You can simple add an option to not allow character transfers on your server.
And NO it is not like Counterstrike.
A round of Counterstrike takes a coule of minutes while building a castle here is serious business. In that way games like V Rising or Conan Exiles (which has a character transfer feature!) are more like MMOs.
I know, many players don't care wasting hours and hours to build a new castle every time, but we just lack that time. But there are some where 30 hours of gameplay happen trough MONTHS and not in a week. For such player this kind of games are allways a pain in the ass, especially when you want to play with others.
I could not disagree more.
Ice-Nine summed it up best already: each server is their own world. You do not have to have it that way, and you can already setup reliable workarounds to sync up save games between two computers. No need for unfair progression transfers of single characters.
when you decide to start your dedicated server, all you have to do is copy/paste your save folder from your girlfriends laptop into your server. you can then pickup from where you were. if you need assistance, send me a friend request.
They have autism, which means it is hard to think outside the box. I see this alot on forums. A classic answer is just "no" or "nope", without any arguments. Even when some one comes up with a solution that will satisfy both "sides".
+1 on this request. Enshrouded has this mechanic nailed, and thanks to that it's so much fun to play with different groups of friends in different timezones. Specific servers could disallow this if people feel strongly, but it would make this game possible to enjoy casually.
