Unable to get stronger for brutal boss

We are currently somewhere around the level 50 (Maya the dark savant) bosses. We have level 15 weapons and level 5 gear I believe. There is (as far as I know) nothing that we can improve.

Been trying to kill this boss (in a round library, spawning small critters) for hours without any luck. As far as I know, there is no way to become stronger in this game at this point, after getting all iron weapons and upgrading my gear to level 5.

Did I miss anything maybe? The boss is like 3 levels above me, but there is no way as far as I can see, to improve my gear.

In brutal most bosses will be above your level since they get a flat +3 to their level. Without the study she unlocks the best you can possibly be is if you kill Leandra first to make an amulet.

Nah sounds like you already have the best possible gear for that fight.
I had my problems with Vincent yesterday, whenever I had a good try some 3rd party npcs made me lose. After a while I swapped to other bosses, including maya and got her within 5 tries.
All you can do reflect on your approach, switch up abilities and just keep trying.
I used poison shots and void shots (whatever they are called) and sometimes the E from the scythe for damage and the Q from mace for movement. I completely ignored all her adds (except the ones that heal her when she consumes them), focused mainly on movement and positioning and damaged in between as good as possible.

You need to play maya clean.

Have counter or dodge the spell that creates a critter.
She does this 1 spell where she creates critter then do some damage to them. She does this spell only 1 throughout the full fight. This is the only time she is allowed to summon anything.
YOU NEED to nuke the critter that is going to her. If the critter that is walking towards her book with a shield, she summons more. Then you are screwed.

If you do those 3 things you only have 3 critters ( i think it was 3) to deal with through the whole fight.

you just gotta git gud.

focus on killing the add she tries to eat with her book. use the summon ghouls fireball spell.
aftershock and kamehameha red beam work great for killing the add. above all, dodge.

Maja is easier in melee than in ranged, where for many bosses the opposite tends to be true. My recommended is Iron Axes, Spirit Wolf, Ward of the Damned, and either of the Unholy Ults. Though which ult you pick determines the optimal usage window. Volatile Arachnid should be your opener, where as Army of the Dead is best saved for her mas minion summon move where she disappears for a time. Good luck!

i prefer the beam, you can ult the boss and the add at the same time.

I already love to see that very different approaches all lead to victory. Shows that there isn’t that “one build fits all” but that different things work and one has to find the optimal build that enhances your strengths and diminishes your weaknesses.

I can see the application, but I can also see how easy it might be to whiff this accidentally too. I might give it a try next time I go face her though.

well very true. You have a lot of spells that are useable in PvE and PvP.

I think i played Maya with double counter last time and smashed her.

You'll most likely be somewhere around 1~5 levels bellow any given boss with the best equipment available when playing Brutal. What you can do is trying to change spells and abuse potions.

Do not bring unholy magic, you'll just make her stronger since she can convert your own minions into hers. Also, try you hardest to not let her consume one of her minions to heal when she shields herself - if she does, things will get exponentialy harder.

Iron or Merciless Iron?

You might be missing the 2nd iron weapon tier.

Merciless is lvl 18.

- use potions to boost melee/speed/sprlls

- get prisoners of 60+ blood quality. Drink their blood. You'll get a boost in melee/spells etc... different prisoners get different boost.

- Wait for blood moon.
