No it doesn't work like Terraria, the gear score determines how strong you are, and gear must be freshly obtained on a new character on a server. Furthermore they cannot transfer gear from server-to-server (which even single-player counts as a server technically). If you want someone to join you, then the only way to benefit from their strength is for you to BOTH attack the same hunt target. That being said, I agree with Suzaku, using the right resistance potions will make your life easier. If you don't have the blueprint yet, I suggest you trade/hunt more until you find Holy Resistance Potions. They are very reasonable: Last an hour even through death, and give near total immunity to the Holy Radiation Effect. (Although Lesser Potions are meant to work against lesser areas)

Also while it won't prevent you from taking damage, Bear Form can be used to staff off statuses like Holy Radiation/Garlic/Silver Poisoning, because it slightly increases those resistances.

Also Protip when crafting/consuming potions, Waterskins don't get refunded when drunk, but glass bottles do.

tbpf, there are only like 2(?) areas on the map with the holy radiation effect and one potion will allow you to get in, do your hunting, and get out with nearly 30 minutes to spare. Dawn will come sooner than the potion will run out.

You definitely need to kill Azariel. Gold is very important for later gear. It's possible to find Gold Ingots in chests around that church, but it's very rare.

You shouldn't be dealing with any Holy Radiation at all, though. Fighting Azariel and Solarus is supposed to be done after fighting Mairwyn (Level 73), who unlocks the Holy Flask, which is strong enough that you won't take any holy radiation damage while fighting Azariel or Solarus.

My nightmare was always the Spider Queen, I'm arachnephobic, and...well...If it wasn't for the silk needed late game I wouldn't fight her :/

That being said, there is a lure there; I'm crazy about Clothes and Cosmetics, so that drive allows me to overcome my fear, if only for a moment. It's not easy by any means, and limited effectiveness with CET means my arachnephobia will always be a part of me; but...The flowing gowns I dream of creating in the game allow me to calm down and not panic, then it's just a matter of fighting her....the hardest part, is making up my mind to walk into her cave willingly; coming back out alive, with my task completed is natural.

You can also buy the potion in the shop in Brighthaven for sun coins.

Also level 3 cloak, passive storm ability and a Holy potion can get you into the areas of heavy holy radiation without needing a flask. Also high quality mutant blood gives resist.

If you're having trouble with the boss just use frost barrier and chaos barrier. Those shields absorb alot of hits and Frost Barrier hard counters bosses that are bullet hell.

make some holy resist potions, you take no damage from the radiation, they last an hour (they persist through death) and they are cheap to make.

There's literally a potion that negates the entire holy radiation damage and also significantly decreases Raziel's own damage output as a bonus. Bring unholy magic shield and summon skeletons during the fight to make it as easy as possible.

As of 1.0, both waterskin and glass bottles get refunded when you drink a potion, it's even on the patch notes.
