MAJOR QoL Suggestion - Choose your Research
One the biggest issues with game progression is the randomness of Researching... it's very time consuming and even rage inducing when you're stuck at Gear Lvl because you got 5 garden decorations in a row and you can't buy or drop the necessary tome.
Let us choose the next researched item, even if you have to pay extra for it (like 50% to 100% more), and keep the random choice as a cheaper option.

Actually it's random, they refresh their inventory every 30 minutes. :cozybethesda:

Stock rotates, tells you when it refreshes. If its the Farbane merchants there are 2 as well.

The Research desk and Athenaeum goes pretty quick. I usually spend a bit more time on the study though. I think its perfectly fine. Personally, I skip MOST of the upgrades until I start on the end game gear. If you know what you're doing you dont really need that research and can just do it retrospectively and more efficiently.

Buy books, make paper, find them as loot, spend your stygian shards for them... tons of way to get research now. Far cry from release when even the paper press was randomly unlocked.

Really? I've checked the cooper and silver markets and both a couple times always have the same stuff

Oh yeah I know I've been around since day 1, but it's still the grindiest bit of the game

Look at the top left next time you talk to them, it tells you how long until the next refresh. It's fully random so some of their inventory may end up rolling the same book, but it definitely does randomize it each time.

by the time I unlock a bench.. my friends and I are already basically learning everything.. when we unlocked the Study and the Athenaeum we learned every recipe except 5 within the first like hour we had so many scrolls and books ready to go. I think if you could pick what you wanted it would make the game too easy.. everyone would unlock weapons and armor first. I love the grind to unlock stuff.. I guess if you are playing solo it would be nice to reduce the cost of research. With three of us we just crush it all so fast. Getting a beefy garden up and running is important that pollen will help a lot.
