Material Storage for specific materials?
Opening a Material Storage displays the text: "Container specifically for material (Material)". This feels like I should be able to configure the storage to only accept, say, planks, but nothing I tried allows me to specify what material's supposed to go in there.

Am I mistaken or is there something I'm missing?

Nope you cannot specify waht to store in it. It is preset and only certain items can go in it namely crafting materials such as stone, wood, planks, ingots, etc.

It accepts all 'materials' and you can't change that. Hit E while it's open and you'll quick stack all eligible items into it.

If it accepts a certain material, then it accepts all of that type of material.

If you want a plank storage, you should make a generic chest, label it appropriately, and then only put planks in it. When you press E to auto-stack your inventory into the chest, then only planks would be moved.

Yeah stopped using these material storages especially for this reason.
Regular storages have not only bigger capacity, but you can just put specific items into them and then use the quick transfer ("E") to put only those items into the chests.
But you can't do that with material storages. So imo those are worthless.

Yep that's the point or more specifically the issue with them.

Thanks for clearing that up, everyone! And for telling me about quickstacking with E, I've been using the mouse for that.

Yeah sometimes quick prompts are not that obvious. Hell i was even yesterday year old when i learned that if i hoover the mouse over a crafting recipe and press "space", it will pin the recipe to the screen so i can track what i need for crafting. :D
